dwagner88
Needless to say, if you don't need to be driving right now, don't. Very heavy snow right now. I haven't measured yet, but we are likely over 2" and rapidly approaching 3". Quarter to half dollar flakes now.
Carvers Gap
Moderate snow in Kingsport. Sticking to everything. 2"+ of snow.
ZHPE46
Very, very light snow in Farragut. Has been this way for 30 or so minutes. Do we have anything good headed our way?
Seabeejason
We are up to barely short of 2 inches just south of Maryville. That all came in roughly 70 minutes. Still snowing, although it has lightened up a bit.
dwagner88
I'm just in awe of this. It has been so long since it has snowed like this here. January 2011 was a great event, but the flake size was pathetic. This stuff is awesome. I just had to go outside and clear snow from some saplings I planted in the fall. They were almost broken already. Hope we don't have power problems.
John1122
That band south of Knox should provide 1.5-2 inch per hour rates across West Knoxville pretty soon. 35-40 dbz returns in it.
Reb
2" in maryville radar full go
John1122
1.5 inches of snow in a little under 2 hours. 3/4th inch an hour average with moderate/heavy snow falling now. Hope I can get close to this rate til 2-3 am.
1234snow
This may be outside of the TN Valley but look at what is hitting Birmingham right now! Unbelievable rates must be under that and yes it is all snow!
Carvers Gap
3" of snow in Kingsport, Tennessee w/ plenty of radar to go. Glad to hear many of you are getting some big returns as well.
John1122
Looks like 35+ DBZ are just to my S and SE and should be pivoting over me soon. If this doesn't back down, MRX will definitely miss by not issuing a warning here.

This storm is really cranking. John, really glad you are in the game now. Heavy snow in Kingsport.
Silas Lang
Around 3" here in Johnson City and still coming down hard.

John1122
Blount County is getting crushed. There are already some .6 qpf dopplar estimates there.
Stovepipe
I'm getting the best snow I've seen so far at my house right now. Very heavy with large flakes. I'm a little over 1.5 inches now and the road is covered. Loving every second of it.
John1122
There are some .10+ hourly estimates coming from the band just south of me, Same with the band moving into Knox, even some .25+ hourly estimates there. So that area probably got in on some 3 inch per hour rates in NW Blount Co,
Seabeejason
Blount County is getting crushed. There are already some .6 qpf dopplar estimates there. Lol, yup. It's snowing heavy here again. Just measured again and it's approaching 3 inches now. Bring it on like Donkey Kong!!! Edit: Nice big flakes too.
John1122
Tri is under a 30 dbz area and reporting .25 vis. That qualifies as heavy snow in every sense of the word.
dwagner88
4 inches here and still dumping. Very heavy snow.
bearman
Exactly where are you located stove I am in Crestwood sub in west Knox and we have around an inch but we have not had any of the heavy stuff yet.
Vol Man
Yep...snowing hard in my part of Kingsport, too....about 3.5" so far. One thing I have noticed, though, is that it doesn't appear to be a wet sticky snow yet...not really clinging to the tree limbs. Have you guys noticed that in your areas? Blue Ridge
Had moderate to heavy snow for a couple of hours in Erwin. Now I'm seeing light snow with small flakes again. 3" is the consensus IMBY. Vol, the snow here has been very fluffy since the second round this evening. dwagner88
Rate is about 2" per hour right now. 15 minutes after my last measurement, I already have a little over 4.5.
valkhorn
Just measured 2.5" at the house. The snow was drifting around the ruler I placed permanently in the ground earlier so I moved and remeasured it.
Jed33
4.5in here at the house in Morristown!! I have also noticed Vol Man that it's not as wet as what MRX let on that it would be. It's currently 28 degrees here though, so that may be taking it to a better ratio and hence not as wet as earlier
dwagner88
Lol. There is what looks like a genuine bow echo in that crazy snow band that just went through BHM.
