TwcMan
Sleet most likely contributes to those HRRR totals.
NorthShoreWx
2AM Light to moderate snow here. Street is coated with about 1/4". Looking at traffic cams for points west, the NSP and Rt25 are snow-covered and the LIE is getting coated as well. The temperature has dropped about a half degree; nothing dramatic. Still calling it 29F.

dbc
What??? That doesn't even make sense Are u saying if I get 0.4" of ice from ZR it sees that as 4" of snow? Sadly yes. Use the RAP Meteograms I posted a few posts ago those are more effective in depicting precip types. Not sure how to switch up the location. Anyone have a link to the RAP? http://www.americanwx.com/bb/index.php/topic/42714-february-4th-5th-storm-observations/?p=2734417

Rjay
Last thoughts. Over the next couple hours when you're in areas of lighter precip expect a change from snow to sleet. When it gets heavier, expect mostly snow. We all (not the mid hudson valley) change over to sleet or freezing rain as the mid levels really warm towards the morning rush.
