Patrick-02540
Do we have any reports from far nw CT. SEEMS like sleet wants to stay just south, riding NE.
sankaty
I thought those HRRR images from last night shwoing 8+ inches of snow in CT away from the immediate coast were way off base, but it looks like they were actually quite close to the mark. jhj
I think we will go back to snow later as the coastal takes over . winds still out of nne

chietanen
Do we have any reports from far nw CT. SEEMS like sleet wants to stay just south, riding NE. Moderate to occasionally heavy snow in Poughkeepsie, somewhat nearby to NW CT. 9" here with 1.5" in the last hour. No mixing yet. Looks like it's riding ENE as you said. bmj16725
90% sleet here - looks like a big slug of it is incoming. Will measure shortly.
H2Otown_WX
I'm surprised by how long it's taking for the sleet line to progress. It seems the great lift within the progged warm tongue region of about 750-700 really helped cool the layer. GFS handled this much better than the NAM obviously. Sn0waddict
7 inches of snow/sleet. May have lost some de to compaction. Currently its just sleet, maybe with some FRZ rain mixed in. More reports to the south are coming up with freezing rain, so I think we start transitioning to it soon. Temp is 29.
sankaty
I think we will go back to snow later as the coastal takes over . winds still out of nne The coastal low will help keep surface winds and temps cold, but the sleet, etc., is coming from the upper level lows moving over or northwest of us and pumping in warmer air aloft. We won't flip back until those are northeast of us, and most of the significant precip will probably be gone by then.
