That is one disjointed looking radar

The shweet thing about fzdz is that we dont need a whole lot of moisture to get ice coated surfaces. All we need is an extended period of freezing drizzle FTW

One poster mentioned snow on the tree branches. I can't even begin to imagine the resplendent majesty of snowpack, cold low and middle 20s ambient temps with low hanging clouds, a refreshing northeasterly breeze, dewpoints near 20 degrees and snow still on the tree branches with a steady freezing drizzle pouring down, freezing mercilessly onto every surface, weighing branches down to the ground and coating all of the snow with a lovely thick shining sheen of ice. What I wouldn't give to be able to go out and savor a long, leisurely jebwalk on a snowpacked roadway that has been coated with a solid inch of ice, with FZDZ still coming down.

I love winter so much. Too bad I have to live here so far away from the mountains right on the tropical fall line.

Yep--- you have the ground truth now for ice glaze in the entire metro area.

Got a really light coating here so far but "decent" freezing drizzle in the lull. A patch or two of sidewalk felt slippery.

how much will/has that smaller system that sprung up today over the area affect[ed] the amount of precip we could get from the main system?

you're still in good line per hi res models but rates may run a good bit of it off. i think guidance was more or less suggesting this happening with the precip pattern most of the day, or at least midday on.

My closest weather bug is 25.4

Mine says 27.1F (900m to my south) and my PWS says 26.9F. Nice night. Glaze covers everything, including the roads. First icicles are starting to form. My concrete walkway is so cold that the ZR did not turn it wet. It looks like clear, wavy glass on dry concrete.

thanks, Ian. I wish the other system could displace the main system, but I'm good with everything that just runs off, lol, especially as winterwxlvr is reporting sleet in Winchester.

No sleet there? Maybe he is delirious.

When it's heavy it's sleet, when it slacks it's rain. Don't know which way it's going to go but it looks like heavier precip working in.

The sight I was referencing is at Damascus Elem. My guess is it is about 1 degreeF too cold. I think the sensor is in a location that never gets sun...(I used to work there) Anyway, I think 27 is a good overall temp for our vicinity. The glaze here is solid and crunchy
