peribonca
Ian, won't there be some cooling once precip starts since dew points are in the low-mid 20s?
mappy
Almost all the cooling is now other than when precip starts but if you're in the upper 20s you're probably set for a while. How about mid-20s? 26 here
Ian
Ian, won't there be some cooling once precip starts since dew points are in the low-mid 20s?Yeah at least a bit. Some spots may warm or stop dropping as clouds thicken before that too though. We aren't setting up to bust warm thus far at least.

87storms
it was a thick kind of cold out today. i don't know what that means other than it wouldn't surprise me to see this be an issue for the morning commute, at least further north.
Ian
JoyYou'll probably be ok but your are has some of the best risk to have troubles probably.. Maybe more west overall. You need .5"+ to really worry even around here outside isolated power issues.

Hires NAM gets me above freezing at the surface around 4 AM. 34 here. Will be an interesting night it seems according to the RAP/Hires NAM. Ian
Ok, thanks.I might get out the wet bulb map when I get home unless someone else wants to beat me to it. It was fairly clear here recent which was a bit unanticipated. Not sure it was enough to cool more than expected but it looks like in in the game at least. WxMan1
I always find the latest LAV (GFS-based LAMP guidance) works pretty well going into an event like this where surface temps will be critical. Keep in mind the LAV guidance updates hourly. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/mdl/gfslamp/statebull.shtml

jnis
Can someone explain what we want wet bulb temps to be and why? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it would give an indication of how much the air would cool as it approaches saturation.
