stormtracker
What does the 12Z Euro show for this POS? What does the Euro say for this? What does the fox say? Seriously, since there was no mention, problem status quo or GFS like i'm guessing.

WEATHER53
This is losing whatever significant freezing rain signature it ever had. Baro. quickly falling into more of a sleet range, dewpoints still quite low though, parent low further west than the events that give DC proper serious icing. The warm layer in the 12z NAM soundings was pretty thick... almost down to the surface... perhaps a smidge of sleet at the very beginning, but ending quickly. billyboy
So, I need to recommend by 3:30pm whether or not we pre-treat our HOA neighborhood in Rockville this evening. The forecast makes it sound as if not much is expected in these parts. Any thoughts?

Ian
Bigger issue might be if most of the precip ends up light overnight. Temps are as cold or colder than forecast so far most spots.
Bob Chill
Dropped from 36 to 35.4 in the last 30 minutes. I expect my rapid decline to the bottom (32.5) to begin shortly.

Treckasec
It went from around 35 degrees to 33 degrees over here. It was around 35 when I got home from school. Not sure if this is really good for the change over though. If the icy conditions start to occur around 5 AM or so ( I bet it'll be earlier ), there will be a very big mess here. Treckasec
But light is good ( if you want a real ice event ) I think he meant that ( I think ) ice would be a big problem, which is why he mentioned temperatures.
ravensrule
But light is good ( if you want a real ice event ) Yup most of the big ice events i have experienced in my life have been light but long duration.
Ian
But light is good ( if you want a real ice event ) yeah, tho some of the local area is showing less precip overnight than forecasts for ice... so even if you end up losing some in heavier you'd still maybe end up with more. less an issue further north perhaps as it's more consistent up there.
