Clinch Leatherwood
Still scratching my head on the forecasts for this one. Whdh was by far best at noon in boston. But that's kind of a short lead. I think people got tunnel vision looking at the next one is all I can figure. High totals were 6-7" per the pns most in the 3-5" range
TauntonBlizzard2013
Pretty nice low end moderate event here. Finished with just over 5 inches of heavy impact snow. Another nice little event on short lead time, just awesome. On to the next and potentially next after that. If things break right, could be some hefty on the ground totals come next week

ROOSTA
My wife just acknowledges that I'm hooked for months and it's better than another woman. That did NOT work in my relationship. I always get lost in this hobby, seemingly always something to chase. 1" here today at the homestead. I predict sleep depravation until further notice. EPIC and really not caring about the outcome. 12-30" in the next few weeks. It's always the chase. She be looking like a bombshell. LOL People from work are starting the questions. Told "one" coworker last-week that 3 storms would hit, each being stronger than the previous. Looking like I might be right.

Cold Miser
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/box/ Send us your report is along the top left or close to it. Yeah. I've seen that but always assumed it was for "trained" spotters. That does not seem to be the case. I did click the skywarn spotter training link and there does not appear to be any "training" available now. Interesting though that I always thought that clearing the snow board every 6 hours was the way to go. This does not seem to be the case according to this document: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/coop/reference/Snow_Measurement_Guidelines.pdf I saw this quote and immediately became worried that the snow measurement police would be after me as I was NOT given permission to clear my board. YOUR SERVICING NWS OFFICE WILL LET YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE 6-HOURLY MEASUREMENTS. OTHERWISE ONLY TAKE 24-HOUR MEASUREMENTS.

A nice little snowfall to refresh the "pack" and replenish it where bare ground was showing. The next week should give us solid cover.

Hello! Classes for the 2014 SKYWARN training season are being scheduled now. We have a new SKYWARN team leader, and she is working with the ham radio folks to get the classes set up. Not sure when they will be firmed up, but they will show up on the NWS Taunton website. Anyone can post their information/reports on the "Send us your report" button on our website. We do look over the "public" reports and post if they look representative with other trained spotters. I don't know if you've seen the online SKYWARN website, so here's the link: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/box/officePrograms/SkyWarn.shtml You will see a link for "refresher training." Those that have had the NWS Taunton "live" spotter training before can renew their training by taking the online course and passing the 10 question quiz. There is now a required refresher training time of at least once every 5 years, either at a live class or by the online training. You can only take the online training if you have an old spotter ID number from our office. Once you enter that number in the refresher training section, you can take the online refresher training and the quiz. Once you pass, then you get a new spotter ID card and number by mail. (Not sure if this is explained on the website.) Hope this helps!! --Turtle P.S. BTW, you CAN clear your snow board every 6 hours if you choose to do so. However, it's not required. If you do choose to clear the board, you should do that method through the event. No matter how you do choose to measure (clearing the snow board or not), we would like a final snow report from you at the end of each event. This is a good thing for our long term snow records. You can go back and see all of the storms we have reports for here: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/box/pnsevents/wxeventsCalendar.php
