Interstate
Warnings for the N. counties with the 3pm discussion? At this point they have to either put up a WSW or WWA with the 3 PM update... too close to game time
Bob Chill
Mitch, I'm not seeing the same thing you are. It's widespread .9 - 1.1 with the same 32-34 temps we've been seeing. It's a good run.

nj2va
I wish we could take Raleigh's snow map for 24 hr snow accum on the 18z NAM and lock it up I think it was a better run for us. WxBell snow maps have 4-5" for us. I'd take half of that even.

ravensrule
thru 9z, even though the 850 line is further east, the 0-surface line is a hair west can't win with this storm, that is the 1 thing that is certain EDIT: otoh, when precip moves in it gets cold so that may explain slightly warmer temps as it's holding precip back According to Instantweather maps you are snow after 8 a.m., you are fretting for no reason except for the fact you usually get screwed . dallen7908
Stunningly sharp gradient in precip types on the point in click forecasts even for those of us given up on by all but WPC. For example, the forecast in Bowie is snow after 8 AM with up to an inch of accumulation. The forecast for Mitchelllville is ran/snow mix until 4 PM with less than a 1/2 inch. stormtracker
I've punted for DC... Welcome to the club. We'll see snow tomorrow, perhaps even a moderate/heavy burst. But in 24 hours, it'll look exactly like it does right now outside. How many hours are we going to waste to track punt #3?

HM
We'll see how 18z GFS handles 850mb deformation zone but the NAM did come a bit north with it from 12z run. It takes the circulation right over DC, meh.... On a separate note, how ridiculous were some of the deterministic solutions over the past week? Remember the OP GFS when it took the wave off the SE coast with barely any precip?
WeSuck
I am just drinking now so if it doesn't snow I can still feel nice. So far, every damn storm has been bullseye line just north of DC. Should have stayed in Norfolk. Even they can pull off a 10 inch storm this year....

Remember the OP GFS when it took the wave off the SE coast with barely any precip? I made a similar comment yesterday about the washed-out wave look from a few days ago. Most of us figured we'd see a north trend of some sort, but it's gone a little too far north for many of us, and the amount of precip that it has now is just insane. mdhokie
What am I missing from the 15Z and 18Z panels on the 18Z NAM? Looks like 850 line along 95 pushing east, with .5"+ falling both panels.
