It's incredible outside already. Just got back from a long run, and I was over-dressed even in shorts. As a side note, I don't understand how someone can ignore their sidewalk even a week after a storm. Where's Jeb when you need him?

There are quite a few sidewalks in my neighborhood that were completely ignored by perfectly capable homeowners. It's so unbelievably lazy.

57, dog trails in the snow are showing a little grass now. Snowpack hanging tough though. Untouched spots are still 2-3" deep

I have patches of 1" in the only spot that gets like 5 min of sun a day around my place.

I wouldn't mind if spring just starts now. Almost 60 and the snow is almost gone.

We haven't had an extended period of real warmth (60+) for a while--- and I'm glad we haven't--- so we could make the best use of our peak snow climo for once.

But now that the best of winter is behind (which we've really felt since November), with the rising sun angle, I'd be happy if it all came to an end with the -EPO setup breaking down with warmth flooding the country.

At this point, I'm in March mode: if it's not going to snow, I don't want cold.

It's irrelevant...It is going to get cold, and with the seasonal pattern, March will probably be cold too...It is February 22nd...It isn't spring and it isn't close....Calling for spring on February 22nd because of a couple 60+ degree days is absurd

I'm not calling for anything. I'm sure March will end up cold as most guidance has been showing, but there's no guarantee of it and if the pattern breaks down sooner than expected (like it did in March 2010), I wouldn't mind.

Feb 22nd may not be spring but it's past peak snow climo and a week away from the end of met winter.

Finally, if we're getting more cold and snow, I'll gladly take it. I never get sick of snow but once we're finally done with it for good this year, I want warmth.

55 degrees sunny and sitting outside with a fleece in a lawn chair.  Great day. Hearing the constant drip from the roof.  Snow pack has taken a huge hit but it is thick like concrete and resilient.  I would say average depth is still around 15 inches here.  Shaded spots are much deeper than sloped sections in the sun. Spots that did not get as much runoff from the heavy rain are also deeper.  Took a few pictures 5 minutes ago on the first real sunny day in I can't remember!

Nobody cares what you want....Am I going to have to listen to people with 60" of snow whine for the next month how they want spring if it isn't snowing?....Nobody gives a rats ass about what any of us want....

I love Spring and bring it on it full force in April!  Right now we have the PV on our side of the globe, still February, and March can produce even in DC proper. This year the cold air has been working in our favor so I'm up for another KU or whatever I can get.  I enjoy snow and especially when we all get crushed. This year has been highly unusual here.  Tons of precip and much that has fallen froze into an iceberg that has proven tough to burn off.  We had 10 inches of snow, a hecs ice storm, than a 2 foot KU in 8 days.  I know some people think that we always get a lot more snow than the cities, but by any objective metric this is an extreme anomaly.  I am all for some regional love over the next few weeks and the prospect this year seems much better than it has in recent memory.

61 after a high of 62. Dog is hot and lying on the last pile of snow.

I took mine to the dog park for the first time in 2 mo. He's pretty much just a pile of sleep at this point. He was exhausted heh.

I'd take the under on climo for a while still. The sun angle is a pain no matter what especially around here but if we can do big or do timing we should be fine at least a few weeks longer than typical unless the pattern just goes to crap and can't resolve in time. Even if we "break after Mar 7 or so and it's short we might get another shot.  mapgirl might get half a foot in April.

Just to answer an e-mail I got, yes those pictures are from today LOL!  I'm a weenie but not dishonest about what falls or is on the ground.  Just want to share observations with fellow weenies who find climo and weather interesting.  Now enough computer time, back to the lawn chair and beer!

I will say that there were about 450 million people out today and all of them seemed really happy. People rooting for cold going into met spring are an anomaly.

It was beautiful out today...I will say DC'ers are an anomaly in general....in no other city is there as much freaking out over snow or epic complaining when it is 45....Otherwise smart people have to be the stupidest when it comes to weather...It's one of the main reasons I stopped writing for CWG...I have such a disdain for the public in DC when it comes to weather....they are stupid...

Yeah that's possible.. the people here are very nice weather centric.  Everyone is acting like we had the worst winter ever and it might look pretty close to normal on paper when it's done, or at least the met winter part.

Spent a lot of time downtown today with the little one. It had been awhile since I walked along the tidal basin. I was surprised as to the shape it's in. Maybe it's just because we are still in winter, but the path was a bit of a show. Trash, mud covered in spots, trees that appear to be on the verge of death, trash in the water, etc. eh, like I said, maybe it's just because we are still in winter. Otherwise, a wonderful day out with a million others.
