usedtobe
Mostly classic greasy American. But there are little carports and often next to a hotel so free wifi. Plus usually the only thing open at 11p so a good post storm food grab. Spent most of the day before Bennington at one this yr too deciding to go west or east. It's my Dairy Queen I think. I'm not much a a fast food guy though when driving south thru the Carolinas, I usually stop at a Quisnos or Subway. I used to like Dairy Queen but got sick once after eating at one and now I stay away from them.

And it happened 15 years ago. It only takes once.
Scuddz
All this storm-chasing memories reminds me of Sonic. Ellicott City is getting a Sonic this spring allegedly and I'm pretty stoked. Right around the corner from my wife's work too. Cherry limeade and milkshakes…mmmm. Oh, snap, where?
WxUSAF
Oh, snap, where? On route 40 on the western edge of town. Across from the Arby's and CVS if you know where that is.

I hoped it was "Ellicott City" like over by the Lowes or Snowden/100.

J.Mike
Here's the deal - whatever the official total is at DCA, I will add a trailing zero and that will be my donation to AMWX. So if DCA reports 8", AMWX gets $80 from me. $75 goes to AMWX.
Mrs.J
Was down in Timonium a week or so ago and came across a Sonic... guess they put it there after I moved. Frederick is getting a Sonic. North Balti Zen
Cheese tots at Sonic with 1/2 price slushy at happy hour. Good times. Came in handy in law school back in the day when I was living in Memphis.
wxdude64
Closest Sonic to me is in Roanoke, but I'll hit it once in a while if in town. Food is OK, drinks are awesome and commercials are funny. Snow on ground took a heavy hit previous two days, bare ground south facing, maybe 4 or 5 in on north facing and shaded areas. Creeks and river rocking just from the melting.
Jebman
Today's high was 54 degrees, with a dewpoint of 27. It was cloudy, which did slow down the snowmelt a little. We would have been far worse off today with direct sunlight. We did manage a low last night of 31 degrees. The snowmelt disaster continues unabated, We are now down to about 15-20 percent areal coverage of snowpack. Snow cover is now limited to the north sides of buildings and other sunlight blocking structures. Today I noticed that I only have 3 to 6 inches of snow on my north lawn. The north facing houses on Glendale Road in my 'hood, the so-called Glendale Valley region, still sports 3-4 inches of snow on north facing front lawns. What's more, the SIDEWALK in Glendale Valley still has 2-3 inches of snow on it!!!! After 3 DAYS of warm weather!! I also had a look at another region where snow tends to hang on longest: Behind the Rec Center in Dale City. You go around back, walk down the hill. BE CAREFUL! I slid, fell right on my butt and slid down the muddy hill. geeze I checked out the snowfield back there. It is down behind woods and is low lying. I found 4 to 6 inches of slurpee snow down there where the sun has a hard time getting to it. That's a really great place to find the snow that lasts the longest. Darbydale Rd and Minnieville also had areas of snow still left over, about 3-4 inches deep. These are NW facing slopes, classic places where you can find snow. So - today is yet another snow cover day. Tonight is the worst news yet. We will have thick clouds. Worse, south winds will increase and the temps will rise after midnight and reach a springlike 55 by dawn. Geeze. This has been a nightmarish warming scenario for northern Va. No mercy, none at all. This warming will proceed until no snow is left at all. The plowed snow piles took another colossal hit today - reduction in height by 18 inches. Rain is expected which will do a massive number on any remaining snowpack. Then we suffer through a forecast high tomorrow of 61. WARNING: You better add about 7 degrees to that. This winter has demonstrated ridiculous heat spikes. Upper 60s tomorrow would not surprise me one bit. Break out your summer t-shirts and shorts. You're gonna need em. The only snow in my yard is on the north side, about 3-6 inches there. There are still a few small wistful piles of snow left from digging snow by the driveway and along the public sidewalk. About that damned pratfall I had on the snowy muddy hill this afternoon while collecting snowpack readings: I slid then fell right on my damn butt. The Winter Olympics in Sochi came to mind - I remembered a skier who fell right on his butt, and that Russian skater who also took one hell of a pratfall. Well, I am no olympic contender. I was embarrassed as hell. Thank goodness no one else was down there. I had parked my car right near the hill behind the Rec Center. No one was around. I spread some plastic trash bags I keep in the back, spread 'em over the front seat then drove home and got cleaned up. Note to self: Take the damn stairs next time.
