I am seriously ready for a warm period. Just paid my electric bill...cant wait to see next months.

we just received the highest electric bill ever and I find it absurd....people that work at Chesapeake Electric have not a clue what the real world is like in light of their regulated status

yeah, yeah, I'm sure some work hard, but when your employer's gross is next to guaranteed, you are not living in reality....you are overpaid and spoiled

Just don't pay the bill. Problem solved.

Huge mistake by the IOC picking Russia to host. And they're hosting the World Cup in 2018.

Some if it seems overblown. No love lost sine the Cold War at least.

Russians don't gu e a s***. I can't help but think that this whole thing was a deliberate decision to screw things up so they can sit back and have a laugh while folks in the West freak out about it.

Could be. I almost feel bad for the Russian people.. So long oppressed by a failed ideology that is still ingrained. This piece was really good and had a fun title http://thebea.st/1gUNLju

I focused on Russia (mostly Central Asia though) a bit in my graduate studies, and could go on at decent length about it, and you make a good point. But you could easily argue they've been oppressed almost non-stop since Ivan the Terrible.

My Russia history is limited. Know mostly Cold War and onward. At least I never bought into the reset. ;)

There are at least 5 posts about the Carolinas or Raleigh cashing in while we miss it.....including one by you naming Raleigh specifically.

I think that's because that appears to be the case for now in this event. We aren't comparing our climo to Raleigh, it just looks like they will cash in while we don't

I'm not talking about comparing our climo to Raleigh.. I'm talking about comparing outcomes this week... assuming that they're going to lock in while we miss.,

that's because it looks like they are going to. models tend to be right when we don't get snow. we seem to be out of this event

You're still not getting what I'm saying-- I'm not saying we are still in it. I'm saying there's no reason to assume that anyone is going to get nailed next week and that Raleigh folk would be reasonably skittish given the bust they experienced a couple of weeks ago...

Raleigh has 1.5" of snow this year. Haven't had over 2" since Boxing Day 2010.

it's funny.  i made a post in the southeastern thread during that storm saying how i thought raleigh would underperform and that the spot to be in would be the hampton roads area, and my post got deleted.  naturally, it pissed me off and my account was promptly suspended.  smh

If your point is that Raleigh could get nothing, then that's valid. They are still partying in the Southeast forum though.

You should have thought more before making that post. It was tactless regardless of whether it was right.

how was it "tactless"?  i said the radar trends clearly are showing the coastal areas would be the spot and that often times it seems that the appalachians dry out storms just like they can for us.  i guess i need to go into microphysics to post here?  sometimes, this board takes the fun out of being a regular hobbyist.  hate to break it to you, but there are times where people probably want to read posts other than the regulars.  just sayin'.  enjoy your weekend.

edit: if you're referring to what i said pointed to the moderator.  well, maybe they shouldn't delete posts for no effin' reason.  to me, deleting a post is similar to spitting in my face or walking away while i'm talking to someone.  you can't just delete posts for no reason and expect someone to not get pissed off.  anyway, off to run errands.
