Congrats Grinch! How do I judge a winter? Well I guess one metric would be roof raking. Been a homeowner for 30+., roof raked due to depth and water content twice in my life, tonight made number 2. Granted I lived in SRI for 17 of those but it still takes a perfect combo of continuous cold and snow in Central CT to make it necessary, so in 11 and 14, 30+. years and the two came in a four year period. If this is GW bring it on. Metric answer? Epicosity

OT but Chicago has been having a winter for the ages.

Totals through yesterday include 62.9 snow. Last year at the same date they had 10.7.

February departure for the first half of the month is a whopping -14! 7 of the first 15 days have had subzero temperatures. Just an unreal winter! Many of our Chicago relatives are professing to enjoy this throwback winter.

Quite a few of us here in the Midwest are having a near historic winter. Indianapolis has already broken their met winter snowfall record, and needs another 6.6" to break the all-time season snowfall record. Peoria IL, Springfield IL, Detroit MI, Toledo OH, Grand Rapids MI, Columbus OH, Dayton OH, Cincinnati OH, Fort Wayne IN, etc...all having top 5/10 seasons.

Here in Lafayette, 62.1" of snow so far this season. No real official snow records here, but the long term local COOP season record is 60.0". As well, February is running a -16.5º temp departure at LAF through yesterday...with 8 sub-zero min temps this month. Pretty incredible stuff. :)

Congrat's buddy.  From like 2000 onward, there have been some epic winters in New England...some years its a different area of New England (like this year its more CNE to SNE, but some others have been more CNE/NNE), but region wide I think since October 2000, everyone is running a pretty decent surplus.

Pete lives in a hollow so I'm sure he had snow...its like he has installed a refrigeration system under his whole property, lol.  I'm pretty sure MPM said his melted out on the hill he lives on in January.

We had lost it on the hills in western Franklin, but I could take a 10 minute walk down the hill and find a solid several inches. Same if you went into Shelburne Falls--deep deep winter there   Where Chris (Hippie-dippie Valley) is on the Green River easily held onto many inches as well.
