WestTennWX
Looks like Memphis, Dyersburg, and Union City may have changed over to frozen. Any obs out that way? Stove, Union City here... changed over to sleet about an hour ago- around a half inch of accumulation now, starting to get some nice flakes mixed in. Already reports of accidents within the city limits, the changeover happened pretty quickly.

They show 31 degrees but no noticeable frozen precip yet. I'm sure it's about to blow up there.
tnweathernut
While I wasn't paying attention NWS Nashville issued a Winter Storm Warning for 2-4 inches, including Gallatin. Most short term guidance shows accumulations staying north and west of Sumner county, so I say its a coin toss for snow there. Best of luck middle guys/gals and congrats to those already seeing snow west! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
WestTennWX
Getting a little ZR mixed in here now, 30 degrees IMBY. Looking at GR3, nice precip shield coming in- should be an interesting night. Rooting for you guys in Middle Tn as well- I know you are well overdue! Road conditions have gone downhill extremely quickly...many accidents being reported now. Hope everyone stays safe! Stovepipe
That freezing line is being stubborn, according to p-type radar anyway. Would have thought it would have progressed further east at this point. Paris still just wet, possibly some mix here and there. I hear just over the border in KY they are getting the real deal. John1122
This is going to be close on some of those extreme totals the NAM was showing along the border a few days ago, just further north and west. JKL says parts of their CWA will see thundersnow tonight with 6-9+ inches of accumulation.

WestTennWX
Still pouring ZR here now- at least .10 of ice, probably a little more, building quickly. Noticeable buildup on trees and power lines- not sure how/when the freezing line will budge- could be a few suprises in store for some folks if it keeps this up much longer. Stovepipe
Too early to call, but it's looking like a win for the RGEM with kudos to the Euro on 850 temps.

Stovepipe
Freezing rain, sleet mix still in Paris. Temps aloft being stubborn and robbing the epic NAM snow totals that were modeled earlier. Roads probably getting iffy I'd imagine if my Mom's deck is any indication via text.

jaxjagman
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN900 PM CST SUN FEB 2 2014.UPDATE...FOR EVENING UPDATE AND WINTER WEATHER SYNOPSIS.&&.DISCUSSION...BOTTOM LINE ON THE UPDATE...WE`RE GOING TO STAND PAT ON THECURRENT PRODUCTS THAT ARE OUT.BIGGEST STORY RIGHT NOW IS THE ICING THAT IS GOING ON IN WEAKLEYAND HENRY COUNTIES IN TN AND CALLOWAY COUNTY KENTUCKY. ONE QUARTERTO ONE HALF INCH OF ICE IS CAUSING MAJOR PROBLEMS. THIS IS JUST TOTHE NORTH AND WEST OF OUR STEWART COUNTY. CURRENT TREND HAS THISICING MOVING INTO OUR NORTHWEST COUNTIES OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OFHOURS. NOW...THE QUESTION WILL BE HOW MUCH ICE WILL THIS AREA OFBENTON...HOUSTON...STEWART AND MONTGOMERY SEE PRIOR TO A CHANGEOVER TO SNOW. FOR NOW...WILL STICK WITH UP TO A QUARTER OF ANINCH OF ICE...BUT THIS WILL NEED TO BE MONITORED CLOSELY AS WEAPPROACH THE MIDNIGHT HOUR AS AN UPGRADE TO AN ICE STORM WARNINGMAY BECOME NECESSARY.FOR THE REST OF THE MIDDLE TENNESSEE...THERE ARE MANY SPOTS THATARE CREEPING EVER CLOSER TO THE FREEZING MARK...ALONG WITH A VERYLARGE WARM NOSE ALOFT. THIS SPELLS A FREEZING RAIN/SLEET MIX FORAREAS ALONG THE KENTUCKY BORDER FOR SEVERAL MORE HOURS BEFORE THEEXPECTED EROSION OF THAT WARM NOSE AND A CHANGE OVER TO SNOW.THE METRO AREA HAS BEEN SAVED SO FAR BY THE HEAT ISLAND EFFECT.THIS IS KEEPING TEMPERATURES JUST ABOVE FREEZING. THE CONCERNWOULD BE WITH SOME OF THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN NORTHERN DAVIDSONCOUNTY...BUT RIGHT NOW WE AREN`T GETTING AN ICING REPORTS FROMTHESE AREAS. OF MORE CONCERN THOUGH..THE 00Z SOUNDING SHOWED ALARGE WARM NOSE OF 6 DEGREES CELSIUS AND IT WILL TAKE AWHILE FORTHAT NOSE TO ERODE. LIKELY LONGER THAN IT WILL TAKE SURFACETEMPERATURES TO FALL BEFORE FREEZING. SO...AN HOUR OR TWO OFFREEZING RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE FOR THE METRO AREA BEFORE A CHANGEOVER TO SNOW CAN OCCUR. THIS MEANS WE COULD START TO SEE SOMEGLAZING AROUND MIDNIGHT...SO IF YOU HAVE TO BE OUT AFTERMIDNIGHT...PLEASE USE CAUTION ON AREA ROADWAYS.UPDATES ARE ON THE WAY. Stovepipe
I'm assuming that the lack of discussion means that the p-type radar is accurate and temps are not cooperating in middle TN. Bummer.
dwagner88
2.6 inches of rain fell last night. We have a lot of urban/small stream flooding this morning.
Stovepipe
Paris ended up with a glaze of ice with a dusting of snow on top. Secondary roads are pretty slick I hear. Schools closed all over west TN and 2 hour delays in middle.
tnweathernut
NWS believes the heat island effect in Nashville spared them. RUC was indicating a heavy dump last night in northern middle TN and I know nothing fell there last night, except a little icing on the ridges north of Gallatin. Hard to believe how some modeling is SO bad, even while the event is happening.
