brettman320
Yes it is. It seems to be moving east a little faster in oakland/macomb county though.

Chicago WX
0.70" of rainfall so far at LAF. Can we get to an inch? Exciting times.
michsnowfreak
Snow abruptly switched to sleet then rain around 1pm here. We had 3.2" of CEMENT at the changeover, with DTW at 3.5". Shoveling was a chore. A bit disappointed as the RAP almost had me fooled into thinking I would majorly bust lol. Nevertheless, the snowpack is deep, the snowbanks are massive, and the density is as epic as you can get. All this rain is doing is soaking right in and making it more dense. Not going to be seeing grass for a LONG time. Im sure we will switch back to snow at some point before ending, just not sure when.

It has switched back to snow at Jackson, Hillsdale, and so forth. Appears to be on the doorstep of switching back at AA.

stormtrackertf
Normally I wish for an early spring as winter nears its end, but this year I kinda want to see us fully glaciated into mid April just to see how long we can keep this craziness going. As crappy as today is, it definitely helps our cause.Sucks that it has to rain on top of a in some cases, as noted in that Livonia report, 15" snowpack. Seems a bit high but here in the center of Wayne county it seems like a good 12-13" before the dreaded liquid precip.

A-L-E-K
kind of surprised the dtx area flipped as quick as they did given the slightly south/weaker system. Probably just too far east to avoid the WAA push.
stormtrackertf
Yeah unfortunately. It's okay, I'm used to it back home. Keep us updated, you'll probably switch back a couple hours before us further east and could give us a good indicator of when that changeover will be. kind of surprised the dtx area flipped as quick as they did given the slightly south/weaker system. Probably just too far east to avoid the WAA push. Yep...warm tongue of death giving a 4 or 5 county area in the far SE part of Michigan a thorough lapping. Stevo6899
kind of surprised the dtx area flipped as quick as they did given the slightly south/weaker system. Probably just too far east to avoid the WAA push. Almost all areas had to deal with sleet, even up to flint. Kinda surprising. Earlier this morning it looked like it would only maybe get up to Detroit. Looks like about 2 hours of sleet as its changing back now. 7-9 still attainable.... stormtrackertf
Transitioning back to snow in sterling heights at the moment. I've seen a lonely fatty or two make it down to the surface as a heavier burst of precip cools the column a bit, but still mostly RA.

Which is most certainly capped now . Im going 13" but its an average. If I took a few measurments in mby Id probably go 15" too...but have to account for the low spots (parts of my neighbors wind tunnel lawn like 6-7") BTW...I wouldnt say "before" the dreaded liquid. Lol its going NOWHERE.

Powerball
Sorry to the Detroit folks. It's my fault. When it started snowing this morning, me being the genius I am, I went and got some gas for the snow blower and ice melter, thinking we would avoid the mixing after the latest trends. Same thing happened with New Years Eve 2008. Went out and bought a brand new shovel and ice melter, and then IT happened. But, let's make the best of it. I just shoveled up the stuff already out there before too much rain got into it. It's already heart attack snow. I don't want to do anything else for the next 2 weeks after shoveling that. n1vek
I want the transition to happen here, but as long as temps get down I'll be very happy with a dense snowpack. More to add in the coming week and I am in Josh's camp concerning no grass until spring.

Definitely one of the more exerting shovel jobs of the year, even though we have many times had much deeper snow to shovel.
