chietanen
Couple years ago there was a swath of 20-30" totals that fell from putnam and dutchess county through litchfield county in CT. Never saw anything like it before. The rest of the area did pretty good as well, but nothing like those totals. Which event was that?
Juliancolton
Which event was that? I would guess October 2011, but again... that was nothing close to a NORLUN trough. Just a relatively narrow band of heavy snow from NE PA to CNE in an otherwise large nor'easter.

Rjay
That buried SW CT I believe..Jan 11-12 2011 buried SW Conn...well a large section of areas from Northern Suffolk through of all Conn. I remember a deform band sitting over SW Conn forever.I think the storm they were trying to figure out was one the Feb 2010 storms. I forget which one. I believe the Feb 25-27th 2010 storm. Heavy wet snow of almost 3 ft in some areas of Putnam Co. That's the storm that basically swung into Boston and then change my area over to snow after 2"+ of rain. NYC ended up with 20" I think. And my area 8-16"I'm not positive that's the one he's talking about though.

That was a powerful system that crossed C LI into Conn Jackpoting Orange County with 3ft of snow. I remember that system like it was yesterday. I read 20-30" in Putnam Co and Feb 2011..just figured a new convo had started and they missed the date by a year. Oops

Rjay
Its cool.. They probably were talking about that storm. Thats the only one that comes to mind. It was like fire hose. You received a ton of wet snow before temps dropped off. Were the rates insane for you during that part of the storm ?

It was unique because it's rare to get 20"+ totals with such poor ratios like that.

IsentropicLift
If the weekend event and then next week pan out with a biggie the snowpack out this way would be over 3-4' deep. Right now we're around 2'. The flooding is going to be bad this Spring. Snowpack has to be holding at least 3" of water currently.

Yeah, that was a good one too, but 3"+ type amounts aren't incredibly rare for Long Island and Eastern New England. Feb 2010's strange track produced crazy amounts deep in the interior. WintersGrasp
2 feet of snowcover ? Geez I didn't think anywhere near here had that. Is this Ramsey? Pompon plains? I drove probably within 10 minutes of there and it seemed more like 10" give or take an inch or two. We have about 7-8" here after the last two storms and compaction

IsentropicLift
I was estimating. But we still had 3" before Monday plus 8" on Monday plus 7" today for roughly an 18" snowpack. Give or take an inch or two.
