That buried SW CT I believe..

Jan 11-12 2011 buried SW Conn...well a large section of areas from Northern Suffolk through of all Conn. I remember a deform band sitting over SW Conn forever.

I think the storm they were trying to figure out was one the Feb 2010 storms. I forget which one.

I believe the Feb 25-27th 2010 storm. Heavy wet snow of almost 3 ft in some areas of Putnam Co. That's the storm that basically swung into Boston and then change my area over to snow after 2"+ of rain. NYC ended up with 20" I think. And my area 8-16"

I'm not positive that's the one he's talking about though.

That was not a norlun trough though. That was a powerful system that crossed C LI into Conn Jackpoting Orange County with 3ft of snow. I remember that system like it was yesterday. It also had a tremendously sharp R/S line

Oooooh I didn't know they were still talk about the norlun trough. Nevermind then. I read 20-30" in Putnam Co and Feb 2011..just figured a new convo had started and they missed the date by a year. Oops

That storm def swung into Boston and that's when queens on east changed to snow. I remember that storm due to its odd track in Boston, the amount of rain that fell here then snow. And that nyc ended with 20"

Also remember something like 36" in Suffern. I could be wrong

The amount of precipitation with that storm was incredible...probably the most you'll ever see in this area from a winter storm. It was unique because it's rare to get 20"+ totals with such poor ratios like that.

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/okx/StormEvents/storm01072011.html This is the NORLUN 1/7/11. It had several > 12" totals in SW CT.

The LI bomb last February had almost 4" of liquid as snow.  Its been almost a year, we need another.  :snowing:

Yeah, that was a good one too, but 3"+ type amounts aren't incredibly rare for Long Island and Eastern New England. Feb 2010's strange track produced crazy amounts deep in the interior.

If the weekend event and then next week pan out with a biggie the snowpack out this way would be over 3-4' deep. Right now we're around 2'. The flooding is going to be bad this Spring. Snowpack has to be holding at least 3" of water currently.

u have 2 ft of snowcover? haha
