weathafella
Happy anny Gerald!! Enjoy the snow. We have some work to do for Sunday storm Thanks Kevin! I think Sunday and Monday happen. ctsnowstorm628
BTV WRF run-total precip absolutely hammers S.VT and S.NH.... Man what a crushing from Syracuse to Concord on this model. Untitled.jpg Solid for NVT too...0.6" on average QPF will yield 6-10"
Snowciopath
Ha, what a terrible map by WFSB... BDR getting the same amount as BOS? Yeah don't think so, I think they got the wrong storm. I don't think they consider outside CT for their maps. True, but the gradient will be much more latitudinal rather than SE/NW
ORH_wxman
My guesses: BOS: 9" ORH: 10.5" BED: 10" AFN: 12" BDL: 7" PVD: 6" MHT: 11" PYM: 5.5" BDR: 5" We'll see if any revisions needed after 00z
TauntonBlizzard2013
Closing early in the day reeks havoc on administrators/RAs who have to deal with weekend behavior issues... we much prefer the early morning call. I understand that perspective as well. However, most kids I've talked to seem to be going about business as if there is no school. Makes things easier for everyone to just do it earlier IMO. powderfreak
My wife and my anniversary today. Celebrating 1995-96, the winter of our marriage on the coldest day of the year ahead of a 2014 snowstorm. Congrats Fella!
Not me in VT
Check out the NE regional radar on the NWS page (loop). WTH is that radar echo that looks like a commit streaking from Maine to PA? What would cause that?? wow what are those
Damage In Tolland
Ha, what a terrible map by WFSB... BDR getting the same amount as BOS? Yeah don't think so, I think they got the wrong storm. That's one of the worst ones we've seen. it's not a SE /NW gradient..it's an East/west gradient
snowwoman
Certainly in the cards. If its .25" ice on top of 4-6" of snow, not that concerning. But if we zr earlier and have .50" of it after 2" of snow, its trouble.... Esp rte 8 corridor. Thanks! Since we have weighted snow on trees and some lines getting concerned. Juliancolton
Check out the NE regional radar on the NWS page (loop). WTH is that radar echo that looks like a commit streaking from Maine to PA? What would cause that?? HAARP. Sure is weird though. It's still stepping down the radar sites, just blipped on the NWS Baltimore loop. That's like six consecutive frames with that anomaly. Some kind of intra-site calibration?
powderfreak
Solid for NVT too...0.6" on average QPF will yield 6-10" You know me, I'm not sold on anything over 6" this winter until it's already on the ground, haha. I stuck with my 4-6" forecast for the mountain this evening.

Makes things easier for everyone to just do it earlier IMO. I work as an administrator in Residence Life. The second that e-mail goes our, our night becomes a nightmare. There is a sizeable portion who are going to carry on as if it will be closed, but at the back of their head they will moderate because of the possibility that they need to get up for their 8ams. I think it depends on the culture of the school, but we are a huge binge drinking institution here and we aren't properly staffed tonight to deal with the behavior issues that would show up (public safety, RAs, etc. aren't on in as great a quantity during the week, and are usually off duty sooner than they would be on a weekend). My preference would be an e-mail that goes out at about 6am. We did get an email from the president this afternoon that said they'd make a decision no earlier than 10pm tonight. Tornadomachine
Disregard NAM. THE 12Z NAM APPEARED TO BE ANORTHERN OUTLIER WITH ITS 850MB JET MUCH FARTHER NORTH AND STRONGERTHAN THE REMAINDER OF THE GUIDANCE. THIS RESULTS IN THE NAM OFFERINGA WARMER SOLUTION. THE NAM APPEARS TO BE SUFFERING FROM CONVECTIVEFEEDBACK ISSUES AS LIGHTNING BECOMES WIDESPREAD OVER THE SOUTHERNSTATES THIS AFTERNOON. GIVEN THIS WE DISCARDED THE NAM AND FOLLOWEDA GFS/ECMWF BLEND FOR THIS FORECAST. In Atlanta for the conference, sucks to be missing the snow. Praying for crushing this weekend... That makes sense them. Bridgewater is a mainly commuter school (I am), so it's a bit different. I just also heard there may be a decision at 9. Either way, I understand where your coming from. TalcottWx
The lingering snow doesn't look like it will be much in CT. Well, much is depends on perspective. Because about 1-2" is about all anyone will add.

This is probably too much of a banter for this analysis thread but what the heck it's almost game time anyways... But I was a senior at BC for the Jan 2005 blizzard and I had an exam the following day. I remember partying hard including climbing up some snow drifts onto the roof of the plex and sledding down the plex roof on a cafeteria tray. Only to come back to my room at 2 am without classes cancelled....yet. Lucky for me they closed up shop at around 6 am lol. Good times. Anyways somewhat on topic.... Crazy over-done RAP has 6-10" OTG in much of CT by 15z at the end of its 21z run lol. with region wide heavy snow and a crazy death band in RI and CT (probably bright banding or pingers?) CoastalWx
Good numbers Will. I really can't argue with any of those much at all. My guess, 8.6" here, but could be a little more if those lighter snows become something a little meaningful.

wxsniss
if RAP has any semblance of truth for Wed 13z-15z and likely beyond, most Mass schools should announce closures tnite... that would be a disastrous AM commute

Gonna be a helluva dump in a 3-4 hour period down here so maybe.
