nj2va
As winter rolls on I continue to gloat, cause my forecast was better than needbiggerboat. only 79.5 inches to go, to meet his prediction for BWI snow. I no longer like cold and I root for a scorcher, while PDIII roots for the U.S. to "torcher" we have Xbox, Atari and Para GFS, and even one poster who called it "GPS". and I'm sorry dtk, I know you'll get mad, but the new GFS is incredibly bad. no need for snow shovels or snow salt or brine, while Fozz reminisces on December '09. DCAlexandria and Ian always fight, over who named Santabomb or something else trite. And weenies continue to cite Judah Cohen, But meanwhile its snowless and my grass just keeps growin'! Very clever

usedtobe
Ah the unrealistic snow season expectation that's the eternal curse of the weenie nation But then they start their seasonal grieve when there is no snow on the horizon by Christmas Eve. Winter cancel that becomes the scream. the rare 40 inch season is but a broken dream They may be right in their ever increasing panic but then again it might be snow lovers being a little bit manic. What the rest of the season portends who really knows. Maybe a torch or maybe cold with plenty of snows. Even if seasonal snow forecasts were beyond reason I wish all who read this, a wonderful holiday season

T. August
On days 10 through 11 When most models be trippin' Weenies feel like they're in heaven And the fake snow be rippin' That's all but a dream, you see For once the fabled day draws near, Only place it'll be is way out to sea And the storm just seemed to disappear Dedicated weenies be hurtin' From the 33F and ice-cold heavy rain The dive team be searchin' For the lost souls that had nothing to gain
EastCoast NPZ
Oh, joy, another 33F rain storm; About the 5th one so far this season. A raging PAC jet and a bust of a block Are the two primary reasons. There is a testy debate in the long range thread As to what defines 'historic'. Some are optimistic that it is still on the table, But I say you can go ahead and fork it. ....And as the days go by And the sun gets ever high, While every member argues About which winter month might suck the least, I take solace knowing that the Dallas Cowboys are the champs of the NFC East !!!!! SNO
The hounds of winter will soon be calling Blizzard winds and heavy snow will be falling While December will be one not to be remembered Here in the Mid-Atlantic we do not surrender Take comfort that this winter will be back-loaded Better go invest in a front-end loader
PrinceFrederickWx
At the beginning of the winter the weenies were euphoric, the mets said snow and cold and a winter that's historic. but now were still snowless and the weenies are feeling blue, cause Don S. said we may get a repeat of '92. I wish there were more posters here besides me and Wes, who have a Charles, Calvert or St. Mary's County address. it seems that he and I are the only posters from this region, while posters from other areas just seem to be legion. If you go in the banter thread and post a winter cancel remark, you're likely to be met with mapgirl's and h20's snark, but if I need the cash I'll say in a thread I think this winter's toast, then hope and pray that zwyts offers to pay me not to post! usedtobe
Ah, the NAm is offering us a forecast of a day of snow. The GFS and European models say heck NO. The NAMS bias recently has been kind of high Today, heavy rain was supposed to be falling from the sky. I'm hoping the NAM somehow gets this one right as a little snow on the ground would be an awesome sight. but snow expectations based on the NAM are a dangerous thing. disappointment is what NAm forecasts usually bring. the European model in short ranges usually dashes hope. and after seeing it today, most here are likely to mope. Here's to tracking storms whether the snowstorm occurs or not. you can always temper disappointment with a Jim Beam shot.
PrinceFrederickWx
If I stopped posting on this board I doubt that I'd be missed, it seems that when I make a post some members get really p*ssed, I'm sorry for the cussing but its time to raise the bar, the previous poems were rated G but this one's rated R if we had a January like '82 or '87, instead of weenies feeling blue they'd feel like they're in heaven but I'm writing here to tell you now that's not the months we'll get it'll be just like 2002 it'll be a piece of sh** my New Year's resolution's to lose weight and get in shape, maybe it would happen if I'd just eat right like CAPE, or exercise some more but its hard to take a jog, when every day this winter is 40's, clouds, rain, wind and fog. usedtobe
Today I'm feeling quite chipper as snow is expected with a clipper A forecast of of an inch or two. as the system passes through. Then arctic air will poor in. and those who love cold will for awhile win. I'll be shivering, in cold I can't cope but paradoxically, for snow I always hope. PrinceFrederickWx
I don't care about tomorrow's clipper surprise, I'd rather use my new scope to see the Big Dipper rise, later this week may be record lowest highs, but at least then I'll be under really clear skies! usedtobe
Ah, the NAm offered us a forecast of a day of snow. Compared to it the European's forecast sure did blow. The NAMS bias recently has been kind of high but today, NAM snow is falling from the sky. RodneyS
VDOT and school decisions, not so good. when rush hour snow is falling in the hood. Decision makers for Fairfax County Public Schools appear to have a policy of cancelling school if significant snow is forecast, even though not a flake of snow is on the ground during morning rush hour. On the other hand, if driving is already hazardous early in the morning rush hour but the forecast was for only minor snow, they do not issue even a two-hour delay in school opening times. So I will boldly forecast that before this winter is over, there will be at least one day when the Fairfax County school system is shut down, but little or no snow will fall the entire day.
