NickD2011
We've been using the Polar Vortex term on the weather message boards for years. But only recently, the media and public have been using the term Polar Vortex to describe the cold. The average person cannot describe what the polar vortex actually is. I guess it goes right with the Weather Channel naming snowstorms. Instead of calling it what it is, a cold snap, they call it the polar vortex.
