smokeybandit
I'd be happy just to skip spring in this area. Nothing fun about 55 and rainy. Go from cold (and snowy) right to 70+ days.
wxdude64
Move to Mt. Washington I lobbied HARD to buy a piece of property near KHSP (elev. 3700 ft) back before we built this house, wife said that was too far away from town (although you can be in Clifton Forge in 15 minutes coming off the east side on VA RT 606), now that she has passed I'm here in the house we compromised on, sitting 2200 feet lower in elevation and hating summers. Maybe one day the opportunity will present itself again. A 80 degree summer day up there is not unheard of, but if it is 88-90 here in Covington/Clifton Forge area it's likely mid 70's up there. That or Snowshoe area or up towards JonJon's, but that wouldn't happen until retirement.

Spring is rarely like that in this area. DC temps average high 60s and low 70s in April and May. Even March is around 60 toward the end of the month. This isn't Boston. Bob Chill
Of all the long range weather we've tracked this season, heat has performed the worst. I can already see the back door cold front taking shape.
usedtobe
ALL IN gfs_t2max_ma_80.png Fishin' weather unless Bob's back door front or a surprise snowstorm supplants it on the next run. I'm all in. Heck it feels like the 70s already.

das
That should finally get rid of any snow on the ground I dunno, there's some serious 15' nasty snow piles around here in Clarksburg. In 2010, they survived well into April. I actually saw mosquito larvae squirming around in one of the sludge pools oozing out of one of the more vile mounds. Disgusting. The Clarksburg Glacier (MBY) is holding strong. Nothing like highs of 17F, 26F, 37F, 28F and 36F to hold a March snowpack through a work week. andyhb
Seems pretty likely by late month. Considering the pattern has generally been a major snore for us severe weather connoisseurs, it would be a nice wake-up call. We should bring HM in here for his thoughts. Ian
Have a link to that particular twitter post (I did see Mark's seasonal forecast on ustornadoes)? I'm not 100% sure he wants his profile shared here widely.. tho he doesn't seem to be hiding it per se. I sent him a note. It was brief but he had some more disco about it today as it came up from others.
