Big shield of rain is quickly approaching.  Looks like most of the lightning is staying further south in Missouri for now.  Hope to get some boomers late tonight.  Actually looking forward to the sound of a downpour hitting the roof believe it or not.

What's your snow depth now? I see on the NOHRSC snow data site, the Quad Cities metro really doesn't have much now.

Incredible satellite shot there! My picture from earlier definitely supports that image.

Probably around 6-7".  The snow depths around here this season seem a little screwy.  Very inconsistent for some reason.  For example DVN is showing only 2".  No way in hell that's what the snow depth is in reality.  Maybe at their facility which is in the open, and probably has most of their snow blow away lol.

This was from this morning...

Note: COD site has added 4km NAM and HRRR graphics, both with dProg/dt and 4km NAM with point-and-click forecast soundings, everything is awesome

Just came to post this. So much win.

Amazing image of the great lakes today:

Superior ice over=no lake clouds?

Great shot there eh. Can really see where the deepest snowpack is located in regards to the potential flood issues.

Congrats. I'm guessing it's pretty unusual to have to wait almost 2 months to get your first thunderstorm of the year at FWA.

Eh, it's kind of hit and miss. Some years we may have multiple t-storms by now, other years it's not until sometime in March. After the winter we've had, it's kind of a shock to the system to have a t-storm.

Nowhere near as good as TSSN but there is something quirky about experiencing a thunderstorm with deep snowpack. Crossing my fingers for later on today.

Rain and 32° on my gauge, 35° at the airport. If our snowpack goes, I'd hope we'd then get spring weather. but that isn't going to happen. lol Hopefully we won't loose all our snow on the ground. It's likely we'll still have the majority of it. I heard we could be seeing the return of the Polar Vortex or parts of it by this time next week.

Todays 1.2" of snow puts me at 80.7" on the season. This ties 2004-05 for my most on record so next measurable snow cements this season into #1 (even though its been weeks since this winter has been cemented into my "best winter ever" spot).

At DTW, 1.2" also fell, which puts them at 78.5" on the season. Now...according to my records/ncdc records, #2 snowiest winter on record is 78.0" in 1925-26, but the DTX top 20 list has 1925-26 listed at 78.9". Obviously this now makes it a toss up whether 78.5" is #2 or still #3....really in the end its just a cosmetic issue, as #2 is a lock and what the hell...#1 is in reach smile.png. I will update the Detroit records thread tomorrow.

snow pack remained largely intact (lost4"), albeit infused with some light rains yesterday. it will be a deep glacier pretty soon. 2-4" of high impact blowing snow for today/tonight but local school still gonna happen. looks cold and mostly dry coming up. After this deep freeze, I'm beginning to wonder if snow pack will last til late April. This pattern isn't going to simply stop with Gulf of AK so warm.

wind with the heavier band rotting over southern mke since 5am really doing some damage to the roads and driveway.  this 2 hrs def ranks near the tops for this winter.

Fail

WE COULD STILL SEE SOME   LIGHT SNOW OR FLURRIES MOVE THROUGH THE AREA THIS MORNING...BUT IT   WON/T ACCUMULATE TO ANY LEVEL THAT WOLD RESULT IN BLOWING AND   DRIFTING. JUST NUISANCE STUFF.
