Geos-

We can fix that:

Do people ice fish on Lake Michigan?  In the bays i'm sure its fine, but what about the main lake?  Is that insane?

If it's really windy during that time, the lake will stay more open. No people really don't ice fish on the lake. Maybe up towards Bo, they do...

Inside the break walls and harbors from Kenosha to Port gets pounded by ice fisherman.. Out in to main lake a no go and its world class fishery inside the harbors anyways. But with all the ice this yr they've been able to get away and fish area's that normally do not have access to which has made it a crazy good yr for some.

36F here now. Got up to 39F.  Strange seeing it warmer up north.

IKK only made it to 36F

Lots of hot air blowing around, from some of the Lakes/OV posters in Chicago. ;)

And good shots. My parents said they lost a little today, but still going strong. Though their depth was ridiculous to begin with...snow thrower tainted and they always retain it well anyways.

I like the comparison shot! Wish I would have thought of it. We lost some snow here but still a ton left.

Must be.  Really didn't realized how deep it was until I walked through the yard.

Lost more yesterday than today.  Still ice on the driveway today in the shaded area from the melting yesterday.

Thanks. Definitely lost more yesterday.  I'll take another pic tomorrow morning.

We actually lost more in DEPTH yesterday with a high of 34F (3" lost) than today with a high of 44F (another 2" lost)...but today was when the scenic appeal of the snow took a huge hit, dirty snow piles on busy roads, sloppy around the edges, a much more tattered appearance, etc.

As much as I hated the sun today, the sunset was a nice hue in the sky.

neighbors chopping ice in the street with a hatchet lol

Hit 44 today.  Lost maybe another few inches, but not as much as yesterday.  Probably still a good 6-7" of cement left.  Gonna take a lot longer to melt what's left as dense as it is.

Rain gauge measured 0.46" of liquid yesterday as the snow in the gauge finally melted.  Showing 0.00" for today, so I guess that was it.  Just in time since now it will be able to measure tonight/tomorrow's rain.

Well all of the crap that was on the sidewalk has mostly melted off (with a little help of some ice melter), so that's a plus.

On the flip side, the city's side streets are truly a hot ****ing mess as the packed-down snow has turned to slush. Everyone and their damn momma decided it would be a good idea to come out in the warmth and sunshine, so traffic was also awful (even with the kids being out of school).

Add on to that the horrendous potholes and driving is not fun these days.

Incredible picture Snow Freak! Looks like a Willow tree.

Temp bouncing around a little bit with the cloud cover moving in. Little ice on the ground on the north side of the house, but wet where the sun was shining earlier.

yeah the waterfront of the Detroit River is lined with willows. I had to work so I ran around for some neighborhood shots that day but if only I had the time to find a more scenic spot....freezing fog, as rare as it is, can create astounding scenes.
