After last nights snow, all of the lumpy man-made giant piles of plowed snow are covered in a sheet of fresh powder so they blend in more but still seem out of place.....it almost looks surreal.

In my neighborhood some people's entire front lawns have become two huge snow piles and then the sidewalk. Never seen that before.

925mb temps pushing 5C plus models under doing the amount of mixing today and just like that were in the mid 40's.

Yep - surprisingly, the snow cover is essentially having no impact on temps, despite the fairly high water content.  The sun this time of year is just too much to overcome.

Dewpoints didn't even get above 32, yet 6" of snow still evaporated/melted from 7 AM to 5 PM today.

Snow depth IMBY is actually less than it was before yesterday's 5" snowfall.  Depth was 12" two days ago, 16" this morning, now down to 10".  It's just not natural at this latitude to keep snow on the ground in mid-Feb and beyond...there's not much more to say than that.  It makes you realize how amazing the 1978-79 winter was around here...with snow on the ground from late Nov to early March.

Even MSP hit 44 today - came out of nowhere.  The air mass really isn't that warm...but Brewers hit the nail on the head - there was full mixing today.

A solid 4" disappeared today here. From 17" to 13". High 49°.

Thursday will be the real test to see if the snow cover gets broken up completely or if it continues somehow. Currently forecast is for t-storm, heavy rain, wind, and likely upper 40s.

Unfortunately, it looks like a repeat for tomorrow, although it should be slightly cooler. Hopefully the snow pack doesn't take too much of a beating over the next few days since it looks like we will be entering another cold stretch.

Consecutive days with +1" for MKE

1. 1978-79(Nov 27th-Mar 18th)  112
2. 1981-82(Dec 18th-Mar 15th)  88
3. 1950-51(Dec 5th-Feb 25th)   83

5. 1977-78(Dec 26th-Mar 14th)  78
6. 1961-62(Jan 8th-Mar 24th)   77
7. 2000-01(Dec 7th-Feb 20th)   76
8. 1959-60(Jan 15th-Mar 29th)  74
9. 2013-14(Dec 9th-Feb 18th)   72

We should jump up these rankings over the next week...if all goes well.

Yeah, that's my last hope for this winter, if we even closely approach the record, I'll definitely bump my grade up for the winter since it will create something to be remembered for other than the nickels and dimes that have proliferated.

We need to get to March 7th to pull that off and as long as the snow doesn't get obliterated this week, it looks like we have good chance. Its a shame there's no snow depth data before 1948...some of the late 1800's and early 1900's data would be quite interesting.

lost maybe an inch or two of yesterdays snow on the south facing slope.. othera areas hardly notice any difference..   as i thought with low dews wouldn't lose much at all and temps even way over performed.. same deal tomorrow.. maybe lose an inch.

sucky day ice fishing and the wind made it worse..   30" of ice and a foot of snow or more on the ice... sweeet

29 is bumping 32..   slanting dews now too lmao.

mmm, nice light winds tomorrow is going to make ice fishing more enjoyable and only need a hoodie on top when it warms up in the afternoon. cold rain, not looking forward to that but uts actually kinna needed to knock some of the deep snow and drifts down for better truck travel on the ice.
