Below is a list of records/near records that have occured thus far...

 

The 8.5" of snow on 1/5/2014 broke the record for the date of 6.2"(2005).
The high temp of -2 and 1/6/2014 broke the record high min temp for the date of -1(1912).
The low temp of -16 on 1/6/2014 broke the record low min temp for the date of -14(1988).

The 12/31-1/2/2014(10.9") and 1/4-5/2014(11.7") snowstorms were the first "back-to-back" 10"+ snowstorms on record.

 

The two aforementioned 10"+ snowstorms also make it only the 6th time on record that there have been at least two 10"+ snowstorms in a winter/snow season...

ORD has hit 59.4" for the season. MDW at 62.4" now.

 

ORD has a good chance of tagging 4th place this winter I think.

This is driving me crazy.  Lots on TV seem to keep confusing the two, with some from the same station calling the 7th snowiest or 3rd snowiest winter on record, not discriminating between the .9" Chicago got in November...or not understanding the difference between the two.
