Indystorm
As we move into Feb. I would expect to see a pattern change favoring more storms approaching from the southwest into the region. We can't keep a huge ridge over the west and nw flow forever. But I must admit this has been the season of quite memorable and energetic clippers. Chicago WX
this looks pretty close to in line with my thoughts for the wave train...exception being a little more mix or ice than snow on the southern fringes of that swath into the OV Yeah. I think it shows the potential anyways. I feel we'll be fighting p-type issues eventually, for here. But should be fun nonetheless. Indeed. Ottawa Blizzard
Looking forward to a potentially stormier pattern. Just want this week to remain cold up until the 31st as we have a slight chance of surpassing 2009 for cold, making this the coldest January in 10 years. wisconsinwx
fugly to get any left turner on the gfs runs of late... sure i could draw up what I want to see to thread a needle storm up here but that's not going to happen or get me what I want. We punt for now and work on the shopping mall maps collection. I've moved on from that though lol. Guess I'll just have to be bored and boring. A-L-E-K
GGEM has been looking a bit Euroesque I thought. yeah they're both on the more amped/wet team, we'll see how the GEFS look. I'm not tossing the GGEM (like i said i'm bullish on this period) but it's not a model i'm comfortable riding.
Thundersnow12
Wowza, the GEM buries us here it looks like. Couldn't ask for a better pattern. Hope all works out well, Chicago Wx. I've been there. But always have the weather to turn to.

BowMeHunter
when/if buckeye makes an appearance in here then I'll get a little fuzzy feeling that there is a remote chance this doesn't just blow a red light heading east.

Powerball
GGEM is a cement mixer storm for Chicago, rain for DTW Not before Detroit gets its infamous 2-4" special on the front-end. Solid 6-10" for Chicago and Toronto.

Powerball
For the heck of it. lol Some of that is with the Thursday/Friday arctic front (which also came in much wetter), FWIW.

Chicago WX
Fair number of 12z GEFS members are more amped than the op run. Of course, picking what s/w amplifies is a bit scattered about. But a good sign for something more substantial, and closer to the Euro and GGEM solutions.
wisconsinwx
The 12z GFS Ensembles run the gamut from suppressed to a moderate storm for the likes of Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, etc.

cyclone77
GEM is pure model porn for northern IL. Doesn't get much better than that. It'll be gone by the 00z version, but it's fun to look at anyway.
Geos
Something a little more amped than the GFS is probably the way to go for now.

BowMeHunter
hope the euro remains interesting. rights away any qpf it had up here is as close to a lock as the brewers and cubs battling for last place again. I'm done being a dd and checking out of storm threads until further down the road. you're in the game for sure yet though.
