CCPSUSuperstorm2010
AVG depth on patio is 13.5" right now as of 830pm, another measurement at 930pm, some nice drifts, but nothing staggering right now. School should be cancelled for much of the Cape tomorrow, unless snow stops all of a sudden. Man such a nice fetch off the ocean right now, radar shows this quite nicely. dendrite
measured. Two diff spots. In 30 mins avg was 2.4 and that was on pavement! 7ish measurement was board-glass table out back Avg depth in shelters areas about 10" You're getting blitzed. I was just curious to know what you were doing to get your storm total amount. Like if you're just measuring the snow depth or if you're adding up the totals that you clear off (and the frequency of clearing). Either way it sounds awesome down there. 40/70 Benchmark
Reminds me of that band that hit SE Mass/western Cape a couple years ago...once the 35-40 dBZ's show up, you're talking 4+" per hour. January 2008....very small band centered on Messenger got whacked with like 13".
Bryan
Seriously how has someone NOT posted pictures yet. As far as I'm concerned, if there are no pics, it didn't happen!! uploading some now! give me a minute
kulaginman
Just measured 0.8" here in Norwood. Steady light snow at the moment with very small flake size, but it looks like things are about to ramp up here.
amarshall
Friend just called with 12"+ in Harwich. Solid 2" here in Quincy. First donuts of the year in the truck. Told my wife I was going out to get gas.

The cape and islands should continue to snow for quite awhile in the wake of this band. Further north...the precip shuts off rather abruptly after band passage. Moon was visible pretty quickly after band passage here in Maine...and that could be the case in BOS and surrounding areas within the next hour or two. Although I'd rather have it snow more...the full moon reflects nicely off the freshly fallen snow. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of lunar eclipse tonight? I thought I saw something about that on the news tonight. May not have been for here.
Clinch Leatherwood
avg depth 11" not 10, was on cell. I don't do official stuff dendrite. When it got heavier around 7 I cleared off out back which is where i normally informally measure. It's away from any drifting as it's actually on the upper porch where it cant really succomb to drifting/roof blow etc. I cleared the road at 821/22, but 852 we had the totals given. I picked that time as I felt the band would be in and out pretty quickly. It's diminished now, flake side has changed, still moderate to heavy snow. That was so freaking awesome. Ginx snewx
What seems cool to me that band is eventually going to stall and snow itself out and some body is going to get annihilated.

moneypitmike
20dbz on my doorstep. That's awesome. How frequently do we get such a stripe of warning realized? Boy, if you can add snow on Christmas/26th, you'll have a nice snowpack. What are the ratios with this? Must be beautiful fluff.
Cold Miser
Anyone here in that near foot zone on the cape from the map that Bob posted? Awesome stuff, but it's crazy how quickly the amounts drop right off the cape, inland. Edit: I see messenger is there. Nice.

donsutherland1
Wonderful accounts. It's really exciting to read the accounts of the heavy snow--kind of like the thrill of the epic December 2005 thundersnow event.
