CCPSUSuperstorm2010
Wow snowing moderately right now, close to heavy, band is almost here and there are strengthening returns to the southeast of CHH moving WNWward as the whole band moves westward. Almost a dream scenario. I went outside just a few minutes ago and now we have close to 7" of snow on the ground with drifts around 8". I think we can push 10" by midnight tonight. Can the band become stationary over us, or will it continue to move southwest and then out to sea afterwards? Question becomes can the band pivot over us and dump a lot more snow then forecasted. I am almost at the top end of the warning amounts already according to the latest WSW message.

CCPSUSuperstorm2010
Congrats dude! Where are you on the Cape? Harwich, MA. Where are you located? Harwich, MA Moderate to heavy snow continues, temp around 31f. Also significant bands are pushing into the region now. Can't wait. Precip continues to back build behind the main band as well. Also the storm center is still east of CHH and continues to develop cold cloud tops and continues to push them westward now.

OK thanks! Looks like another good burst of snow next few hours for the Cape - enjoy! Tougher call for BOS but still some decent reflectivity headed onshore...so at least some 1SM -SN coming in (if not 3/4). This band is not being handled well by models at all, even the 18z runs from what I can see. It looks like it's tied to mid level frontogenesis field, which is aligned more into Maine. So, it should weaken somewhat across eastern Mass as it shifts west of that axis, but should still bring some steady snow onshore.

weathafella
So in the end, NAM really scores a coup here with its signal that this would happen from 2 days ago. She was on her own but it appears NAM hit the general idea best .
JoeD
Not handled well by models, like any of us are surprised, do not envy you playing catch up all night. Actually it hasn't been too bad...the day crew recognized the poor model forecasts and updated appropriately. Only question is how much falls our of that band coming ashore...but the current headlines have it covered well. BOS is the wild card of course! weathafella
Winter wonderland out of my office window......and snowing harder again as that band moves in.......who'd have thunk!
