Logan11
Oh right the airport from the 90's TV show "Wings" That's the closest I ever got to ACK..... The airport is on the south side of ACK too... so 40 degree wind is running the length of the island basically. I bet they're probably the snowiest spot on ACK while other areas are mixing. CCPSUSuperstorm2010
It is a plain wet snow, pasting everything right now. Trees, secondary roads, grass, brick patio, everything as a coating of snow now. Still falling moderately. Heck of a game to watch, I think the injuries up front are starting to show the Pats weakness until they get some guys back. Storm looks nice, too bad is just a tick too far east right now. Energy is finally going into the bomb now and pressures should rapidly fall overnight tonight. One thing I have noticed is that on water vapor, a jet streak on the southwest side of the baroclinic leaf is trying to get a comma head going to the south of SNE. THis could be our last hurrah before the snow weakens some. Heavy returns to the south.

CCPSUSuperstorm2010
The one million dollar question is how far north can the deformation band get before it begins to pivot? Can it reach as far north as Hyannis, MA?

40/70 Benchmark
Starry here also, but 6 degrees. Wow....didn't realize until you mentioned that, but there is a sharp thermal gradient from wnw-ese across the region. You're near 0 and the cape is having precip type issues. CCPSUSuperstorm2010
Band is inching more and more to the northwest ever so slightly. There is an apparent surface low reflection south of Nantucket, MA creating enhanced cold cloud tops that are moving northwestward into the region. A big band is beginning to show signs of moving northward in an east to west fashion. Something to keep an eye on into the morning hours. If this band can get as far north as Cape Cod, MA, we could be in for some heavy snows. However radar trends would say keep that to the southeast. Logan11
Chatham would seem to be in the moderate stuff.... Maybe it can pivot west a bit such as to Dennisport. Scott, is that a surface low or reflection to the south of Nantucket, MA seen on infrared satellite imagery? I mean enhance cold cloud tops are developing and moving northwestward. CT Rain
Euro backs in the heavier precip onto the Cape by 12z... radar looks like most models may be a hair too far east with some of the heavier bands.

I mean enhance cold cloud tops are developing and moving northwestward. There is a s/w down there, but I think it's a surface low developing down there as well. The low is pretty far se of ACK, however. It looks like the action is more or less related to that 500mb vortmax.
