blizzardof96
4.0cm from last night plus 6.8 from yesterday and 4.8cm on saturday brings my weekend total to 15.6cm. Way surpassing expectations... depth in and around 8" now.
Torchageddon
I'm currently getting amazing winter storm conditions from this powerful LES, essentially close to blizzard conditions!! Only 2nd to Jan.6 2014 blizzard for this season, the white-outs of blowing snow that is occurring is exactly what I was hoping for this morning. The level of intensity is that of a once in a 4-5 year event and yet I had at least 3 of them so far this winter. Visibility is down to 40 feet with it being reduced to 15 feet in the worst white-outs. Roads are closing rapidly again which is amazing because they were just starting to re-open yesterday. Likely the same story in most parts of Grey-Bruce, Huron counties.

harrisale
Thunder Snow!! Congrats on the t-snow. Been hoping to see some this winter, getting to the point where I might chase it if I have to but we haven't really had a good opportunity yet. 4cm downtown , 6 cm north york, 11 cm snowstorms, 16 cm blizzardof96, any other weekend snow totals (fri to today)? Was late this morning so didn't have a chance to measure but I will once I get home.

harrisale
Area near the Airport is getting destroyed by LES. heavyles.jpg Nice looking band on radar. Given ice extent, it's nice to see LES still ripping late into January. Don't think that band will sink down to me though.

Don't think that band will sink down to me though. Don't think so either. Winds are supposed back a bit to the W which will push the band back north. Already notice signs of it stalling on radar. NAM did well with the inland penetration of the band but it was off with the placement. Had it focused more towards Ajax/Whitby.
Torchageddon
On the 401 near Pearson is just a mess. Heavy LEs band impacting the area. The band extended well into Toronto so a nice taste of what I've been getting for some yearning for it. Nice looking band on radar. Given ice extent, it's nice to see LES still ripping late into January. Its as if there is no ice at all, its awesome. I don't know if I have seen it shut down completely for myself but if the "worst" does befall the LES engine, I guess I can hope for a historical ground blizzard with snow on the ice blowing right in like nothing else. The only thing missing from this winter IMBY that occurred last winter is thundersnow (with the lightning). Roads are closing down still. What is funny is there was this article on a radio station page I go to that was titled "January 26 - Cleanup Starts" well it looks like we're back to square one now . Toronto4
About 5-6 cm fell yesterday and overnight downtown. Add another 2 cm or so from a few days ago and that gives a total of 7-8 cm since Friday night. The LES of Huron is currently impacting the downtown core. It's coming down at a good clip. Ottawa Blizzard
Measured this morning in five different places and it looks like I received around 10cm/4" of snow yesterday. Definitely a good event. The snow was really easy to shovel too as it was light and fluffy.
harrisale
Been some pretty enjoyable stat padders lately. Now just waiting for that big dog and we can call it a complete winter. If winter ended right now I'd give it a B+. A big storm would bump that fully to an A. We've had almost everything I want in a winter (ice storm, deep extended cold, ground blizzard/whiteouts, solid LES, continuous snow cover, white x-mas, clipper train that delivered) ... except a big event, which holds a lot of weight for me in terms of rating the season. This winter really has had it all. Even though there has only 1 big 6"+ snowstorm locally this winter, the continuous snow is making up for that. Average 4-5" a week since December. Ottawa Blizzard
Winter is a B+/A- for me so far. In order for it to receive an A we need to have a Big Dog storm. Other than that it has had everything. For a winter to be graded an A I need all of the following: 1) A cold and snowy buildup to Christmas 2) Snow on the ground Christmas morning. 3) A bout of Siberian cold bringing temperatures down to between minus 20 and minus 25 Celsius at night and at least one afternoon with an air temperature around minus 18 (zero Fahrenheit). 4) Lake effect snow bands making it into my neighbourhood. 5) Steady snow cover from December through to at least the end of February, for an A+ it would have to last to mid March. 6) A Big Dog storm.
