wxsniss
Jan 2005 was the "holy grail" of snowstorms for me. Without hyperbole, odds are the astonishing conditions I witnessed in Boston metro and Harvard Square 11pm-2am will never be surpassed in my lifetime. But I'll always hope. April 1997 was previously my #1. I have lots of footage and pics, as well as some stunning ETA runs and Walt Drag discos I'll post when I get home tonight. wxsniss
gravity waves south of the islands i have footage from Boston under this band, i'll post tonight i also recall Drag discussing a gravity wave-induced band producing 8" / hour around 8am 1/23/13 collapsing down the coast... sounds far-fetched but i have the AFD saved, will post tonight
CoastalWx
The band that supposedly dropped 8" in one hour was more of a deformation band I think. I still think that was high, but 3-5"/hr I believe.

SouthCoastMA
The massive tree damage is the only aspect of 2013 that even allows it to sniff 2005's jock in this region. 2005 is still King.
danstorm
look above I linked Eleanors ppt presentation Thanks Steve - god, what a storm... I can almost relive every hour of that beast looping that radar. Where I was down on the S. Shore, we still had a few more hours after the end of that loop. Quick hitting monster with fabulous rates. Don't think we ever got the 5-6"/hr type stuff down in Mattapoissett where I was, but had long stretches of 2-3"/hr. Also gotta call BS on Tip's assertion that he only got like 9" in NE Mass... those ridiculous bands made it all the way up to the NH border.
