FreeRain
Drove back from Springfield Mass thru the snow. Snow started around 4:15 in North Haven and ended as I pulled into my driveway. Saw a couple of accidents along the way on I95. Looks like about 1.5" here in N. Syosset. Amazingly when I left Springfield Mass. they had mostly no snow on the ground. Usually this time of year they have a lot. Bad year for them.

They'll make it up, maybe with this potential gradient pattern coming up which is usually great for SNE but can be questionable for us.

Springfield is in a bit of a snow hole...with the Berkshires to their left and the Eastern New England Upland (aka ORH area) to their right...winds from almost every direction are downslope and subject to some type of adiabatic compressional warming & drying. NorthShoreWx
Measured about 1 inch in Stamford.. It's cool because usually snow on snow you can clearly distinguish the refrozen old snowfall underneath from the fresh layer, but not this time since it hasnt been above 25 degrees since Tuesday. I noticed that while measuring snow depth...my fingers not sensitive enough to feel the interface between the new and old snow. Our snow depth is 6". New snow was 1.5"

NorthShoreWx
From Syracuse NY to Pitts. Pa there seems to be an organized line looking to come together, can that hold together? You will get a brief heavy snow squall after midnight that will accumulate 0.3".

codfishsnowman
Drove back from Springfield Mass thru the snow. Snow started around 4:15 in North Haven and ended as I pulled into my driveway. Saw a couple of accidents along the way on I95.i live there, it is one of the WORST places above 40n to be a snowlover, we average 40 to 45 inches a season but almost always from nickle and dime events and changeovers. we get downsloped something fierce in most coastals, warm air races in aloft is swfe, and in these cute little events like today or last saturday norlun we never seem to be in "the zone". in the 9 winters i have been here which have included some busy blockbuster ones we have only had a few big dumps while some folks down your way are in double digit numbers of double digit events. Looks like about 1.5" here in N. Syosset. Amazingly when I left Springfield Mass. they had mostly no snow on the ground. Usually this time of year they have a lot. Bad year for them. Shore of Rhode Island & BID...basically the same climate as the Groton / New London area. It seems odd that forecasters do not learn that these areas will almost never jackpot with regard to storms...even offshore storms...ignoring decades of climatological evidence to the contrary...and they continuously issue forecasts saying "heaviest amounts over SE CT & the Twin Forks of Long Island"...it very seldom comes to pass. I theorize the low precip totals invariably reached out in that area are a direct result of a lack of dry land...too much water leads to too much stability...the same principal as to why t-storms weaken as they approach the coast...the collision of air and land leads to friction and instability...ingredients essential in the cloud making process. Absolute Humidity
This winter loves Philly. There're getting hammered again.
RU848789
Was thinking the same thing - really picked up to moderate in the last 5 minutes with much bigger flakes - looks like this could last 30-60 minutes if the band holds together and that would likely add close to 1/2" more. Ended up getting exactly another 1/2", bringing the total to 1.5" in Metuchen, right in line with NWS predictions - looking at the reports, the Philly office did a great job, with a general 1-2" snowfall, as predicted, for most locations and some areas with up to 3". Local roads were pretty slippery this evening and even roads like 27 and Route 1 were a bit slushy - don't think most towns sent crews out.
