Saturday too but return flow with the low to the north will take us above feezing for the first time in a few days

Yes, unfortunately/fortunately? I am well aware of this.

Btw...Did I mention I like to finish the last "shoveling" of my walk and driveway just prior to the end of a storm.

I prefer the fresh look the last inch or so puts on top of the "shovelings".

Also... I find the look of dirty and clumpy snow disturbing.

Should I seek counseling?

the 8 in Germantown was me. The lowest I measured was 6.5 in an area that was prone to drifting. While walking the dog in more protected areas, I was measuring anywhere from 10-13 in protected areas but areas also prone to drifting. So I split the difference and went with 8.

This type of snow is very near impossible to measure due to the wind, compaction, and low water content

19.4, light snow, 2.0"

Nice little event for the RIC area. I didn't think the ULL could get it done this far NW but the back building continued through the evening hours. Temps in the teens with SN is a cool experience, especially at this latitude.

Cool! Nice to know a lot of forum members were able to get in on the action.

interesting distribution of totals....this was a solid very clean 4-8" snow for DC metro..everyone was between 4 and 8 except a couple random reports....

4-5" amounts using reports 9pm or later for DC and DC burbs...these are the lowest final measurements for DC metro.. I think overall people did fair measurements...there are only a couple nutty ones....7.0"at Franconia?....uhhh...no

Ballston - 5.1"

Takoma Park - 5.0"

Fairland - 5.0"

Langley Par - 5.0"

Alexandria - 5.0

Lincolnia - 4.7"

Wash DC - 4.6"

ME - 4.5"

North Springfield - 4.5"

Chantilly - 4.5"

Fairfax Station - 4.3"

Alexandria - 4.1"

Centreville - 3.9"

No way Franconia had 7".  5.5" yes and that would be in line with yoda and me.  No one down here go more than 6"

I'm no "trained spotter", but my deck measured 8 inches on the nose.  Fantastic day of obs here, sledding, drinking, and eating spicy shrimp gumbo.  I want MORE.  When!?  You guys-and you know who you are--were freaking money today.  I gotta keep keep working to hone in on this craft / obsession / hobby.  Cheers!

I was thinking totals should be near 8" for me, and you're pretty close to me I believe.  The last spotter reports I saw though were less and sometimes way less.  Not sure why.

Ok, well between the 3 of us maybe we're not crazy.  The "2 W Elkridge" spotter is one of the closest to me and that one only had 5" at 640pm last night which seems really low.

Let me be the fourth person to confirm 8" in east Columbia. That last band was longer and juicier than I expected.

Observation about some of these amounts that stand out -- in Montgomery Co we had a 9.8 from near Montgomery Village (spotter) and an 8.8 just east of Gaithersburg (public).  In that last good band that came thru in the evening, I noticed on radar that it really blew up just SE of me for a while before weakening.  It looked like a summer shower with the elongated yellow strip when it was right over those spots that had the highest reports.
