Bob Chill
nice to see everyone in DC metro enjoying what is likely to be an underperformer...turns out we dont whine too much as long as we dont get totally screwed I've felt that 4-6" was the most likely in our metro area with upside. Not really an underperformer imo unless you believed the nutty runs.

ravensrule
Probably gonna be just shy of 20" on the season when this storm is done....not hating that! I will be over 25", pretty impressive.
clueless
This was a great event. I don't care about totals.
kurtstack
Yeah about 3.5" in shirlington. Best storm in a long long long time, so no complaints here. Everything covered and an all snow event with heavy rates has the spirits running high.
needbiggerboat
This is as good as Feb 10 2010 in my book. Same type of conditions. On the flip side this stuff is pretty normal in the upslope areas. Don't disrespect the pizza parlor, and don't talk lightly about Feb 2010. Today was a drought breaker of sorts for many, but IDK if I'd go as far as Feb 10.
Bob Chill
There's still some precip blossoming down by CHO that might graze the 95 corridor. If score another couple I'll be totally satisfied. Decent chance. The heavier bands firing around fdk-jyo-cho will press through before we're done.
MN Transplant
22.3° and occasional gusts Evidently >3" is when the sledders really come out. From my back window.
vinylfreak89
Curious what the liquid equivalents are. I think the lighter bands may be cutting accums because of the wind and how dry it is. I think this storm is a good lesson to many cold does not necessarily equal good ratios Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
Ji
in about 3-4 hours I said 6-9 so i busted but i think 90% of the people on my facebook page are Loudoun County people so i dont have too many mad at me

Scraff
Radar looks great for our area. I think 8" is a near-lock. From your lips to the snow gods ears...
Joshfsu123
Think I will end up at 3-4 inches (Navy Yard) --- I will take it but there is still quite a few more hours of snow to go, even if light, from the way the radar looks. Gonna hope for more but be happy with what we got. Going out to measure the snow, as best I can with the wind, now.
clskinsfan
and now I'm under another heavy band so you'll be getting more... They just keep building over us. But that western edge is looming.
Bob Chill
Just measured. 4". I could prob slant stick more if I wanted to but I'll call it 4" for now. Cleared a spot in a protected area to see what happens between now and the end.

Jebman
Looks like about 3 inches. This is nearly as much snow as the March 6 2013 concrete snowstorm, which plastered us with 3 and a half inches of slush. Those hours and hours of very fine micron pixie dust cost us in terms of accumulations. It cost us DEARLY. Never be on the edge of the forcing. Ever. Very small grains of snow take a loooooooooooooooooooong time to accumulate, even at 21 degrees.

snow.
I think we can get to 5 eh...we need some real bands...not this 1/4"/hr stuff...we hardly got +SN today and flakes were small....still a fun event, but I would be surprised at

clskinsfan
I was just looking at traffic cams around VA. I cant believe the poor condition of some of the major highways. 495 is rutted. 81 is snow covered. All back roads in NOVA are snow covered. All of that is gonna freeze tonight. What a mess.
