For those tracking the cold conditions, New York City has already seen two days on which the high temperature was lower than 20° this month: January 3 (18°) and January 7 (19°). Prior to this winter, the last time that happened was January 16, 2009 when the temperature only reached 16°. In addition, the last winter with at least two such days was Winter 2004-05 with two.

Some guidance keeps the temperature below 20° for two or even three consecutive days.

The last time NYC had two consecutive days with maximum temperatures below 20° was January 14-15, 2004 (17° and 18° high temperatures).

The last time NYC had three consecutive days with maximum temperatures below 20° was January 10-12, 1982 (17°, 17°, and 18°).

Following the near-term cold shot, NYC will likely have 3-5 days with high temperatures below 20°.

The last winter with 3 or more such days was winter 2003-04 with 4 days.

The last winter with 5 or more such days was winter 1993-94 with 5 days.

For central and eastern Long Island maybe....but after midnight it should shut down from W to E and clear NJ/NYC

I think most of the heavy snow is over by midnight, but snow should linger until after the vort passes by. Too bad it won't be closing off-that's how a classic comma head band develops, and in that case snow would last longer.
