CheesyPoofs
Already at 29.8. Was only 31.9 just about an hour ago. Did it start accumulating immediately or has some of your QPF been wasted on melting? NorthArlington101
I hate taking reason from wxluver since he always says DC is going to get the death band that never comes.
Kmlwx
The temp issue is moot. Dropped another 0.5 in the last 8 min I wouldn't say moot - especially closer to DC but it is perhaps not going to be as big of a problem as some of the bigger doom and gloom folks would have you think. WinterWxLuvr
I'm just going to say this one unhelpful weenie thing as catharthis so I can stop thinking it: onset temp of 35 with precipitation falling in the middle of the day onto warm ground....disaster potential isn't nill. Well start rethinking it. It's snow falling from cold upper levels with even more cold pushing in and it's late January. The only disaster would come from no precip and I see no way that's happening. stormtracker
my temp has fallen 4 degrees in the last 30 mins as the snow has started. 30 and moderate snow sticking to everything. Good news.
nj2va
The temp issue is moot. Dropped another 0.5 in the last 8 min Yeah, dews here are in the upper 20s. The temps will continue to drop slowly until precip kicks in when they'll take a noticeable drop (and continue dropping from there). Down another 0.1 as I typed this. Agreed. Not moot, but not nearly the doom and gloom we've been hearing, especially out where he is. DCA will probably lose some to melting, but I mean...it's DCA. NorthArlington101
How these things tend to play out West: Don't worry guys! Snowing hard and 30 degrees, you guys will be fine even though our climo is better and you have an urban heat island! East: I feel like you've said this before.... West: nah man, this one is yours, enjoy. With that in mind I am hopeful they are right, just a repeating pattern.

WinterWxLuvr
people are freaking out over nothing. this isn't like the marginal air mass situations of March or December. Exactly. This is a super cold airmass. The ground is cold, the air above is cold. What's a little surface warmth gonna do against that?

DCA will probably lose some to melting, but I mean...it's DCA. Yeah - I think folks in MoCo and such like Bob Chill and I are probably still fine for the most part. DCA will always come up short so I don't know if anybody was expecting otherwise. Inside the beltway I suppose might have some melting issues to start but I have a hard time believing that it's just hours and hours of white rain. CAPE
The temp issue is moot. Dropped another 0.5 in the last 8 min There is no temp issue. none. except in the minds of those who have not been paying attention.
Don Cherry's Jacket
The surface temp issue to me only really interesting because its 7 and we are still several degrees north of freezing. The models last night were saying 30 by 1 AM close to the city, and that hasn't materialized. Fits the north trend.

stormtracker
No it's moot. You guys can come back in a few hours and tell me I was right. But its not though. Especially here. Look, we're mostly on your side here...it's nowhere near the doom and gloom and panic we saw here...we'll be fine in the end. This isn't noquester or some marginal stale March airmass, people need to get a grip.

Superstorm
No worries for you guys. My temp started at 30F around 4:00 am. It is now down to 20F. That cold air will easily drain down there.
wxmeddler
Nice temp gradient/Front sitting across the N tier counties right now... it's 23 in York, 27 at MG House, 31 in Towson and 34 at BWI. It is moving south but slowing due to increasing parallel winds from NE.
joc111
Temperature has warmed 3º since 1am from 34º to 37º in the West End of Alexandria. And people were immediately rebuked yesterday for suggesting temperatures might be an issue when yesterday's highs were 8-10º higher than progged...
