For those people that are seeing snow, how long did it take between radar coverage and snowfall.  Nice part about this storm is that we aren't killing off a lot of dry air.

 

Oh, I'm not doubting temps will crash when the precipitation arrives and saturates the column; but the fact remains it's going to take awhile to cool the ground sufficiently, and thus we'll lose quite a bit of potential accumulation.

 

Still holding at 37º with a dewpoint of 26º at elevation in the West End of Alexandria.

 

Lose accumulation on the roads?  So be it.  You aren't going to lose accumulation on the grass or elevated surfaces.

 

That's sunrise. 

 

There are a couple of things on the radar.  Sunrise, which is so cool that we can see, and beam blockage.

Temp dropped from 34 @ 530 am to 29 now. Snow is fine and powdery and coming down at a mod clip. All surfaces covered.  I was a little concerned about being above freezing when I got up this morn but it that worry quickly went away…I think the same scenario will unfold area wide.
