BuffaloWeather
Airport should between 8-9 inches when all is said and done. Seeing as we had 2 dry slots, not to shabby. Going out in a little bit to grab a total.
Buffalo Bumble
Can any north country folks give me an idea of current snow depth in the Lowville area? I'm renting a cabin this weekend on the western edge of the ADK's, about 15 miles east of Lowville. We'll be equipped with snowshoes for hiking, I'm just wondering how my 2 dogs (medium size) will fare. This map indicates a depth approaching 2 feet in that area... 2Slick
Can't find any official measurement for Syracuse. Last time I checked we had 3.5". That was at 8am. Definitely more than that now.

Going out in a little bit to grab a total. There is a band about to drop southwards per king city's radar also the zone forecast is calling for additional 2-4" in spots overnight, Also this: ON THURSDAY HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD EAST ACROSS THE FORECAST AREAWITH A DEVELOPING SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW. FOR MUCH OF THE AREA EXPECT JUST PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES AND COLD TEMPERATURES TOPPING OUT ONLY IN THE TEENS. AN APPROACHING BROAD/WEAK MID AND SURFACE TROUGH CROSSING THE GREAT LAKES LOOK TO BRING JUST ENOUGH SYNOPTIC FORCING COMBINED WITH WEAK COLD ADVECTION ALOFT TO HELP GET SOME LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS GOING TO THE NORTHEAST OF THE LAKES. THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY THE OVER-LAKE INVERSION HEIGHTS WILL REMAIN TO LOW TO SUPPORT WELL ORGANIZED LAKE BANDS. BUFKIT PROFILES SHOW THE INVERSION WILL BE BETWEEN 3 AND 4 KFT OFF LAKE ERIE AND UP TO 5KFT OFF LAKE ONTARIO. HAVE CONTINUED A CHANCE OF SCATTERED SNOW NORTHEAST OF LAKE ERIE ACROSS BUFFALO GOING INTO THE MID AFTERNOON WITH MORE LIKELY CHANCES EAST AND NORTHEAST OF LAKE ONTARIO WHERE A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT. Gravity Wave
In the end we finished with about 7 inches here, although the airport is reporting 8.5. The second half of the storm actually performed a little better than expected with some impressive snow growth and rates. The steady snow lasted until almost 7 PM, which was later than modeled. A pretty minor bust in the end, but missing on the heavy banding from last night still hurts. The short range models were extremely accurate with the Feb 3rd storm in PA, but I guess they can't always be right...

Flying MXZ
Turin webcam http://binary-logistics.com/cam/cam10.php I was a couple miles from Lowville a week ago and they seemed to have a tad more than the Turin area I was up there the past 3 days, and I would say they got 10" +/- yesterday but tough to tell with the wind. The bottom 2 feet has been around for awhile and I would think the dogs would stay on top of that. I would say that Lowville itself has less snow than Turin, but outside of town I don't know. By February 28th the average high is 36. Looks like some warmth or at least a break in this pattern will be coming along by the end of the month. The winter this year started in Mid November, I am about ready for the warmth.
