H2O
WBAL has always been conservative- especially Tony Pann. More often than not, they end up correct too. Yup. Going low is still a better way to go no matter what the wettest model says. They don't forecast off the srefs
gymengineer
What is our best Clipper gone rouge storm around here anyways? Matt posted earlier--- 2/16/96 is not a terrible analog. Strong, digging vortex with a low popping off the Carolina coast. That one was kind of a surprise, with only the 0Z models the night before showing accumulating snow. It was preceded by light snow the day before, 2/15, from another clipper.
KAOS
Bob Turkey on 13 went 3-6" as well. I think 3" is nuts unless all guidance terribly busts. Bob Turk hates snow.

Also 3/6/13 is still too fresh in my mind, the big snow totals were a "lock" the night before that too. I hope I'm wrong.

mitchnick
Well shoot...18z NAM sounding for 18z tomorrow shows a potentially unstable layer near the 600mb level in the snow growth zone. that map looks like every snow around DC, except this time temps are straddling the -10C instead of the 0C line

Yeah March 6 delivered nearly a foot out here. By noon it was about 4 inches. Let's try it this time in the low 20's
KAOS
Why do people care what a TV met forecasts? I think it's that "normal" people viewing the news could possibly be misinformed.... or not. I honestly don't care what they forecast as it directly relates to me. Their forecast is not going to affect the final snow totals.

Went I went into DCA today the airplanes were taking off into the south wind. About 2 hours later when i was leaving to come back home, they were taking off to the north into the North wind. it shifted pretty quick. I'll take somewhere between NW OH and SW VA for $1000 Alex.
