kevlon62
We could use an upgrade here. After driving in and making it home ahead of the new snow through wind-blown and significantly narrowed county arterial roads (albeit in open country) the squalls tearing it up right now are making this like GHD all over again. Passed three cars in the ditch here just outside town in virtual no/ultra-low visibility. On the Square: Edit: 28 minutes later http://abclocal.go.com/wls/feature?section=weather/webcams&id=9386371
Gilbertfly
visibility dropped to 50' or less multiple times over the last 15 minutes ... kevlon62
Couldn't get good enough pictures in the dark but this gives an idea like Geos' Bristol pictures from earlier today. This is State Line/Alden Rd. Dead center there is the top of the street name sign. Stop sign is just visible to the right.

blue60007
IND is excited CURRENT HRRR CONTINUES TO BRING SQUALLS INTO THE NORTHERN WABASHVALLEY AFTER 02Z...SWEEPING SOUTHEAST QUICKLY. THE THERMODYNAMICPROFILES LOOK SIMILAR TO WEDNESDAY NIGHT...WITH SHALLOW BUT STEEPLAPSE RATES TO AROUND 900MB AND A THIN LAYER OF INSTABILITY TO BOOTFOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR TWO IN TANDEM WITH THE FRONTAL PASSAGE. WITH40-50KTS NOTED AT ABOUT 3KFT...THE PRESENCE OF AN INTENSE BAROCLINICZONE...ANTICIPATE STRONG WIND GUSTS TO 40-50 MPH AND POSSIBLY HIGHERWITH THE SQUALLS ALONG WITH BRIEF HEAVY SNOWFALL. WHILE SNOWFALLAMOUNTS ALONE WILL ONLY BE AN INCH OR SO AT MOST...THE COMBINATIONOF HEAVY SNOW WITH THE STRONG WINDS WILL BRING A RENEWED PERIOD OFWHITEOUT CONDITIONS AS THE SQUALLS PASS ALONG WITH DIFFICULT IF NOTIMPOSSIBLE TRAVEL CONDITIONS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. EXPECT THE MOSTINTENSE PART OF THE SQUALLS NORTH OF A TERRE HAUTE-BLOOMINGTON-COLUMBUS LINE...AND WILL LIKELY ADD A STRONGLY WORDED SPS THATFOCUSES STRICTLY ON THE IMPACTS FROM THE SNOW SQUALLS TO GO ALONGWITH THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY. POPS LOOK PRETTY GOOD AT THISPOINT AND WILL MAKE ONLY SUBTLE ADJUSTMENTS.RAPIDLY DROPPING TEMPS AND STRONG WINDS WILL BE THE RULE BEHIND THEFRONTAL BOUNDARY. WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH HAVE BEEN NOTED300-400 MILES BEHIND THE FRONT WITHIN THE INTENSE COLD ADVECTION ANDEXPECT STRONG WINDS TO CONTINUE FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT ACROSS THEREGION. THIS WILL ENABLE ADDITIONAL BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOWOVERNIGHT...ESPECIALLY IN RURAL AREAS OVER THE NORTHERN HALF OF THEFORECAST AREA. ONE ADDITIONAL PROBLEM COURTESY OF OUR RAPID THAWTODAY AND REFREEZE TONIGHT AS TEMPS TUMBLE...ICY SPOTS ARE LIKELY TOFORM WHERE ROADS EXPERIENCED MELTING. ALL IN ALL...HAZARDOUS TRAVELCONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT AND CREATE YET ANOTHER DIFFICULTRUSH HOUR MONDAY MORNING. TEMPS ARE LIKELY TO BE NEAR ZERO BYDAYBREAK WITH WIND CHILLS OF -20 TO -10F. wisconsinwx
dang just peaked outside and even with these lil gust to 25 mph or so has it half arse blizzard like. Looks like one last band of intense snow just north of my location that could briefly cause intense blizzard like conditions. Maybe the airport can eke out 4" of snow today? They only need 3.7" to hit 40 for the year.
