weatherbo
sorry to OT here but I think this is insane... from APX Our observer that is 1 mile east of Maple City has recorded 179.3" so far this winter season! Their unofficial record since they started back in the 1959-1960 season was 219.6" in the 1996-97 winter season. Only about 20" more to go to! makes me feel way more confident of my totals above 130"... could be 140-150 already. so damn hard to keep up. keep the clippers coming... love sw flow enhancements! snowlord81
Think about all the snow melt today and then temps crash to below zero in just a few hours then throw a few fluffy inches on top of the snow with 50mph gust just in time for morning rush Im glad I work nights! Baum
LOT update: THE WORSE CONDITIONS REMAIN THIS AFTERNOON...THE MORE WE WOULD LEAN TO AN UPGRADE TO A BLIZZARD WARNING FOR TONIGHT WHEN CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY TO BE WORSE FOR A SEVERAL HOUR PERIOD. Snow is really blowin around these parts. And I'm not rural.
Hoosier
Tonight should be intense. I'm thinking another 1-2" is definitely in play here. Snow growth looks good during the time it will be snowing.
cyclone77
Have reached 32 here with the sun out as well. Should be at or above 32 for the next 5-6hrs. Will have to see how much of an impact that will have on the snow pack, but I'm guessing it should be notable.

Natester
If this snow squall line gets really potent, I wouldn't be surprised to see Severe Thunderstorm Warnings along the line for winds of 60 mph or higher. This may even surpass Tuesday February 11, 2003.
Chicago WX
37 at LAF Back on the rise here too, after a bit of leveling off last hour. 37.2º and moving on up...
Hoosier
Back on the rise here too, after a bit of leveling off last hour. 37.2º and moving on up... Depending how long it takes to drop, we might come out of this with no real net gain in snow cover as speculated yesterday. Almost don't care at this point though...the stuff tonight should be wild. Going to be very dangerous for a while.

All about tonight's action.

hoosierwx
Temps have busted way low here last couple of days. Supposed to have been 30 yesterday and ended up 42, 10 last night was 18 and 43 today and we are at 48 and climbing.

Geos
With more sun heading for Indiana I could see LAF getting to 45°.
Chicago WX
now you're just trolling lol, maybe. Geos inspired me though. I will say you can tell the ground is frigid. Despite temps well above freezing, the lot here is still solidly snow covered.
cyclone77
Up to 34 here. Melting quite rapidly on paved areas and roof tops. Doubt the snow in the yard has been effected too much yet.

DaveNay
Up to 34 here. Melting quite rapidly on paved areas and roof tops. Doubt the snow in the yard has been effected too much yet. That needs to push another 70 miles east....
Indystorm
Now 57 at St. Louis. Point max was for 56. Can they touch 60? All this warmth will just add more potency to the collision with that arctic front later today and probably enhance the possibility of t snow. Quite fascinating. Chicago WX
yeah, you aren't getting much warmer Our resident warmwantista says 45 and sunny. And so shall it be. Torch on Geos!!! 39.2º and steadily rising here.
cyclone77
That needs to push another 70 miles east.... It's gonna try, but one of the reasons it's warming so well here is the lack of snow cover west and south of here. Snow cover really drops off as you head west and south from this area. michsnowfreak
Snow depth is more less a meaningless statistic right now but UofM recorded a 8" depth yesterday so after today it should be double digits. Crossed 50" for the season yesterday too. Back to pixie dust snow here after a period of parachutes Agree....they always tell you pick an average (if theres 2", 6", and 4" your average is 4")...but its just not like that now...its just crazy. Im going with 10", so Im back into double digits now after peaking at 17" earlier in the month. My backyard ranges for the most part from a low of 5" to a high of 15" but I do have one 2 foot drift. Finished(?) this event with a for-a-change easy to measure 2.6" of fluffy snow...will be interesting to see if the front does anything tonight!
