Yeah what a joke.  The back edge was approaching here and the returns just shattered apart.  Snow completely shut off.  Gonna estimate 0.1" for this beast.  What a POS system this was.  Glad we weren't really anticipating much with this.  I'd say 9 times out of 10 this season we've had underperformers for eastern Iowa and far western IL.  Beat goes on, and on, and on...

Ouch, well Sunday looks good for you guys, at least compared to here.

If a solution like this looks like it will verify by Sunday I may have to sneak west into Iowa and chase this thing.  Has the look of the now infamous Feb '03 severe snow squall-line that blew through much of this area.  I'd trade a 6"+ snowstorm for a chance to witness something like that again even though it only lasted <10min.  (That's what she said)

Yeah that was memorable...one of the rare times I can recall an office issuing severe thunderstorm warnings for a snow squall.  Here's a radar image with the counties under the severe thunderstorm warning outlined in yellow.  The band produced gusts of 60-70 mph IIRC.

LOT posted an update about Sunday...

GOING FORWARD INTO TONIGHT...WINDS WILL BEGIN TO BACK TO THE SOUTH
AND EVENTUALLY REACH THAT DIRECTION BY SUNDAY MORNING. SPEEDS WILL
COME DOWN TONIGHT...BUT THEN RE-INCREASE QUICKLY ON SUNDAY
MORNING. THIS WILL BE ASSOCIATED WITH A WARM FRONT WHICH WILL
BRING SNOW TO TAF SITES. THIS LOOKS TO BEGIN OVERNIGHT TO AROUND
DAYBREAK SUNDAY FOR CHICAGO AREA TAF SITES. THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR
A 3-5 HOUR WINDOW OR SO OF FAIRLY GOOD SNOWFALL RATES /ONE INCH
PER HOUR PLUS/ DURING SUNDAY MORNING.

Loved the Dominican but glad to be home..   snuck out of chicago last sat before the snows and snuck in and out tonight just before the snow started.   Not a bad little event here.. Been snowing nice size flakes for about 5 hrs now.  Looks like sunday should be about the same.  Not gonna like going from 83 and sun every day to about 115 degrees colder feeling with the wind factor through early next week...   Balmy out there tonight actually like geos mentioned when i just went to get the mail mountain. .  Naso much going forward.

Gonna be until June until Lake Michigan looks this inviting.  Lets freeze that baby over and free ac well in to july!

Yep, June and July will still feature some epic lake breezes if this cold winter keeps up, assuming we don't have a torchy spring.

still coming down nice flakes... haven't looked at radar all night but I thought it would have basically been mood flakes by now at best with them canceling the wwa on time.    normally snow has ended  2 hrs before a advisory is set to expire.. not 2 hrs after.   Bonus tonight.

In this case the WWA was for blowing snow.

Ran outside to get a measurement and it's really difficult given the uneven distribution.  Throw in preexisting snow cover and it makes things harder.  Based on Chad's measurement from a few hours ago and continued mostly light snow since then, maybe we are near 2".
