Ottawa Blizzard
I LOVED the two winters I lived up in Muskoka. Two hours north of Toronto and a whole different universe. Now THAT was winter! Yeah. Muskoka is beautiful in the winter and summer (except for the black flies in the spring)
TugHillMatt
The clipper is starting to look like crap IMO...Not sure what will happen.. How much snow have you had thus far (season)? My area is up to 85 inches for the season, with a lot of winter left to go!

TugHillMatt
Yeah. Muskoka is beautiful in the winter and summer (except for the black flies in the spring). Fall, winter, and the second half of summer were AMAZING. Spring and early summer I wanted to rip my skin off. I think I lost half of my blood to insects! hawkeye_wx
Back edge of the snow is almost here and we've had maybe a tenth. Models did a piss-poor job with this system, hope they do better with the next. Gonna ride my 3/4-1 1/4" with the second wave. Ditto. Total bust over here. Most of the radar returns were nothing but virga. We may have picked up 0.1" as the last band on radar moved through.

on_wx
Lots of drama unfolding across Southern Ontario with some county-wide road closures, dozens of highway closures, and reports of trapped motorists. OPP are basically asking everyone to stay home. Blowing snow warnings are in place for only 6 counties in Srn ON. Blizzard-like conditions are being reported across the whole area, with at least two counties not under the warning pulling plows off the roads (Chatham-Kent and Elgin). Simcoe County has confirmed 2 weather related fatalities from a car crash, and the Clearwater Fire Dept has opened their station to shelter stranded motorists, though the county is not under the blowing snow warning. Seems like a very serious situation area-wide with limited weather warnings.

I love the forecast for my area. GordoFabulous
Saw a report that some rural roads around here are already down to one lane due to drifts. Some of the roads around Yorktown were partially drifted over when I was driving home from work at 8pm. I'm sure most of them are much worse now. Still, we are only 5" off the snow total for January 1994, so it hasn't been an abnormally snowless month compared to, say, January 2010
blue60007
Saw a report that some rural roads around here are already down to one lane due to drifts. There's a stretch of the road leading to my place that goes through an open field. Judging by cars driving by, it appears to currently be in that state. cyclone77
Ditto. Total bust over here. Most of the radar returns were nothing but virga. We may have picked up 0.1" as the last band on radar moved through. Yeah what a joke. The back edge was approaching here and the returns just shattered apart. Snow completely shut off. Gonna estimate 0.1" for this beast. What a POS system this was. Glad we weren't really anticipating much with this. I'd say 9 times out of 10 this season we've had underperformers for eastern Iowa and far western IL. Beat goes on, and on, and on...

Radar doesn't look overly impressive across midwestern/southwestern Ontario so I'd guess just plain blowing snow is the biggest culprit.
