peribonca
Anyone worried that the precip swath is trending north? Yesterday the best swath was in central VA, now it's NVA to So PA. I think we definitely need to keep an eye on this since our region always finds a way to mess things up.
North Balti Zen
Does anyone know of a similar pattern of such a track with the cold air? ian last night said the 2nd Feb storm in 2010 was somewhat like it. Somewhat. He is not predicting a blizzard.

Bob Chill
It happened here sometime in the 2000's...I wish I could remember the year, but I'm sure someone here knows. We got 7-8" from a clipper. I also think it happened 94. We had one in the mid 80's with thundersnow IIRC. Matt would know for sure. It was a great storm. These aren't uncommon occurrences overall because we get a handful of ns vorts like this every year. They all intensify off the coast. Many are fishes, some hit nnj on north, and every once in a while the ma gets tossed a bone. I suppose those 61 analogs showing up almost 2 weeks ago weren't bad. Not a carbon copy or anything but the MLK storm in 61 was a ns vort in the tn valley. It wasn't even forecasted to be an event. Caught everyone off guard. This one would have too 50 years ago before weather models

Yes because if it moves any further north it would leave me with almost nothing other than a nuisance event.

Yeah I think it was the 2003 date I'm remembering ...maybe it was a 6-7, but perhaps I was in a lucky spot - it happens quite a bit in Damascus. Herb@MAWS
Potentially sweet week for me. Snow and cold, then Saturday I head to Ft Myers Beach for a (free) week oceanfront, including seeing Woody Allen do a monologue on Saturday evening at a venue that only holds 120 people -- and we have front row seats. I've seen Ft Myers reach 90 in January but am expecting I'll have to deal with daytime 60s and 70s for at least first half of the week; maybe even 50s. During the winter it can be the warmest place in the US, but that's usually only when it's in the 60s here.
