Jon
Man...NWS RAH 4:30pm forecast doesn't look too great but most realistic probably considering rain to snow light QPF event. High bust potential locally, I reckon.
downeastnc
Crazy stuff....just had a burst of large sleet pellets with temps in the 50's Graupel maybe these showers are nuts some folks here at work also mentioned it was "hailing" in that last shower at the plant. Thats a depressing graphic and they must not be talking to other offices cause MHX just upped us to 1-2" and almost all models agree with that...on this graphic you got to be 50-60 miles into VA to see 1-2" .... KChuck
37.5/35.1 wind calm gusting to 6 out of NE with barometer at 29.66 slowly rising from low of 29.57 at 3pm. Temp had a quick 8 degree drop from 3:30-4:00 but has slowed as it approached 100% rh. Just came in from w-s And rain drops getting bigger on windshield as precursor to snow, but none seen yet. Rain best described as slow steady light rain like before switchover, but we'll see. 4 miles north of Kernersville, NC (Pine Knolls to locals)

superjames1992
The timing honestly blew here. When you get clouds to move in just after the peak of daytime heating, that's not a good situation.

FallsLake
For what it's worth the RAP has just come in wetter for the Triangle. It had shifted much dryer the last few runs. Looks like around .2 at hour 6 with precip still falling. http://www.twisterdata.com/index.php?prog=forecast&model=RAP&grid=255&model_yyyy=2014&model_mm=01&model_dd=21&model_init_hh=21&fhour=06¶meter=PCPIN&level=6&unit=HR&maximize=n&mode=singlemap&sounding=n&output=image&view=large&archive=false

Brick Tamland
I think the precip starting later can only help. Less waste on rain and more snow with colder temps.

NCSNOW
Well that band has set up almost to a t how it was depicted earlier today. Problem is i'ts melting before it reaches the surface.
