Jebman
More snow forming in central Va http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/full.php The area of returns is expanding over time. It is developing along the same axis I noticed at 9pm yesterday. It is an ENE/WSW oriented band that extends from DCA through central Prince William Cnty WSW to the TN/NC state line and farther WSW. This is forming along the axis that I observed another similar band form along between 730pm and 930pm last night, about 6-7 hours ago. Well, it's baaaaaaack someone needs to check the HRRR and the RAP As of 445am this band is getting wider and it has progressed from sky blue returns to a couple shades of darker blue. The next color gradation is green! Persons living in SW Va, Central Va and N Va should monitor this band, it had been developing for at least two hours and it may develop light snows with time. Ground temps in these areas are low and the ground has refrozen. Roads will likely become slippery if light snow should develop. Temperatures in northern VA are in the low to mid teens with a refreshing breeze.

I see nothing on local traffic cams. HOWEVER, radar is 'closing' the hole, so moisture is getting closer to ground.....may make it thru the dry air in next hour or two. NWS Blacksburg has greatly increased snow chances from 6 hours ago, painting a broad up to 1" over most of west and a 1-3 in its far eastern area, up from nada at 11 pm.
