Allenson
Light snow here too. 0.5" thus far. 26F.
J.Spin
It will be interesting to get updates from eyewall if he’s around. Ahh, there he is! You snuck in while I was posting my own update. It’s so great having your updates - it sounds like you guys have had some good snowfall so far.
eyewall
It is more difficult to measure with patchy older snow, but around 1.8" or so is what I think we have as of this post with moderate snow falling.
Hitman
It started snowing about 15 minutes ago after a dusting overnight. Coming done moderately with medium size flakes.
Hitman
Btw-my wife just described our current snow situation as a "vortex of sh$@&t". Is this a meteorological term of art?
powderfreak
Been coming down 1/2 mile vis or so for the past 45 minutes. Very big flakes and a quick half inch of new snow. If we can hit 2.5" at 1,500ft, it'll be the largest 24 hour snowfall on that snow board for January.
powderfreak
On a seasonal note, this current system represents the 30th accumulating snowfall event of the season, so 2013-2014 continues to set a blistering, unprecedented pace in that regard, and we have still not hit the climatological midpoint of the season according to my data (that midpoint comes tomorrow on Jan 20th). For some perspective on that number of storms, 2009-2010 and 2006-2007 had just 36 and 37 storms respectively, in total. I suspect this season is fairly unique to have so many accumulating storms and still be at only ~65% of average snowfall for the date, but this first half will certainly not be known for a lack of activity around here. "Storms" may be a very liberal term for what these events have been so far this season, lol.
J.Spin
We’ll have to watch how Bolton does if the slow is somewhat blocked; it’s hard to tell with the very wide angle lens they have on their web cam, but the snowfall doesn’t seem to be quite as intense there as it does here: http://www.boltonvalley.com/webcam They did have an inch down already prior to 7:00 A.M. though, so they’re certainly getting something. dendrite
nice expanding area of light to maybe moderate snow expanding to our sw. light snow here now, seems to be slowly increasing. I wonder if it ever stopped after I went to bed at 11? maybe 1/2 inch since then. Looks like this next batch might bring an inchIt was off and on overnight. Right before I fell asleep around 1245a there were some breaks in the clouds. Going out to measure now.27.3F

Clinch Leatherwood
Shocking that they don't agree about this being a horrific winter so far. Another good positive bust down there (looks fun in the obs thread) and 2-4" forecast here turned into a sunny day. Hey, at least its nice to see the sun, lol. A very small area got anything of consequence.

tamarack
Got a dusting overnight, about the usual for Norluns here. Now we get cold and watch the suppression. After a number of runs with steady cold thru day 16, 06z gfs now has a mongo torch-deluge at the end of the run. Given the past two weeks' trend... eyewall
Looks like heavier returns are fading some but I am going out to measure in just a moment.
J.Spin
Another 0.6” of snow fell here from 7:30 A.M. to 8:00 A.M., so although the rate of snowfall never looked overly heavy, it was up above 1”/hr during that period.
eyewall
About 2.2" or 2.3" here now. Biggest snow since the one before the ice storm LOL.

powderfreak
PF you are going to get snow on and off through tomorrow. Your fun is finally starting. Yeah just need the daily 1.7"-2.5" refreshes and we'll be just fine. I'm so happy to see the flakes.
Lava Rock
Quite the sucker punch on the norlun. Forecast 6-8", then 3-5, then 2-4. Ended with 0.5". Nice long week of cold and dry. Glad to see the rain gone but would have been nice to have gotten a few inches today to hold us over. When was that forecast? I don't think we had 6-8" in our forecast until I just updated the map with the latest update. And that is storm total for the SE NH and SW ME areas. Coldfront posted this yesterday afternoon. powderfreak
Man its incredible how wintery 1-2" looks after this past month. And to think the Co-Op averages 1.8" a day right now, with the snowboard around 2.3" per day. Those must be wrong, but that's what the math says for this time of January.
