Baroclinic Zone
not unless we get 2-3 inches of rain in 24 hrs I'm not talking rivers, streams. I'm talking roads and BOX picks it up as well. RAIN WILL BE STEADY THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND PERHAPS HEAVY FOR ATIME 18Z-00Z ESPECIALLY OVER SOUTHEAST MA. WHILE THE ABOVE RAINFALL TOTALS WILL NOT INDUCE ANY SIGNIFICANT FLOODING... NUISANCE TYPE POOR DRAINAGE/URBAN TYPE FLOODING MAY IMPACT THE LATE DAY COMMUTE. That's hydro issues. Baroclinic Zone
hydro issues You disagree, that's your perogative. I backed up my thoughts with the thoughts of the NWS. 905 AM UPDATE... ***WIDESPREAD RAIN OVERSPREADS THE REGION THIS MORNING AND CONTINUES INTO THE EVENING RUSH HOUR WITH HEAVIEST AMOUNTS ACROSS RHODE ISLAND/SOUTHEAST MA*** FORECAST ON TRACK THIS MORNING AS WIDESPREAD RAIN WAS OVERSPREADING THE REGION FROM WEST TO EAST. THIS IN RESPONSE TO A STRONG SHORTWAVE APPROACHING FROM THE WEST...INDUCING MID LEVEL ASCENT ALONG WITH A LOW LEVEL JET OF 40 TO 50 KNOTS. IN ADDITION...THE MOISTURE PLUME HAS ORIGINS IN THE GULF OF MEXICO BRINGING PWATS 2 TO 3 STANDARD DEVIATIONS ABOVE NORMAL. THE COMBINATION OF THE FACTORS LISTED ABOVE WILL RESULT IN WIDESPREAD RAIN DEVELOPING THIS MORNING AND CONTINUING INTO THE EVENING RUSH HOUR. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL WILL FALL ACROSS RHODE ISLAND/SOUTHEAST MA...WHERE 0.50 TO 1 INCH OF RAIN IS EXPECTED. THIS A RESULT OF THE NOSE OF THE LOW LEVEL JET IMPINGING ON THIS AREA AS WEAK SURFACE LOW TRACKS ACROSS SOUTHEAST MA. WHILE RAIN WILL FALL HEAVILY AT TIMES...NO FLOODING ISSUES ARE EXPECTED OTHER THAN NUISANCE POOR DRAINAGE STREET FLOODING. UNSEASONABLY MILD WEATHER CONTINUES WITH TEMPS MAINLY IN THE 40S...BUT SOME LOWER 50S EXPECTED ON THE COASTAL PLAIN.
