hawkeye_wx
1.3" here. In December we were getting nickeled and dimed. In January we can't even sniff a dime. My January total is 2.8".
michsnowfreak
Never modeled to hit here so I didn't even think twice about in fact it wasn't until I checked on here that I remembered there was even a clipper today. Right now we are getting some --SN here with decent flakes though so it look cool!! Same here...flakes have been in the air basically constantly since our clipper departed early yesterday. Picked up 0.1" last night, 0.1" this morning, and may get grazed by the clipper tonight here. DTW is at 4th snowiest January thru Jan 17th and now has 2 weeks to pick up 3.5" to hit #1. IWXwx
and in utterly shocking news http://www.wishtv.com/news/local/i-65-closed-near-lafayette-due-to-multiple-crashes Why is i65 so awful? I 69 will be next. I don't know why I 65 and certain stretches of 69 are so bad. I do know there are some open, flat stretches in Huntington Co that allows the wind to blow the snow across the road and it is difficult to keep the ice cleared. snowlover2
Light snow starting here. Intensity should increase pretty quick.
Chicago WX
Why is i65 so awful? Around LAF, it's kinda "hilly" and "turny". But for the most part, south and north (between Gary and Indy) of here it's fairly flat. The real answer is people drive way too fast for conditions. vortex
A pic from in town at 3 pm. Just under 4" now. +SN again right now. Should finish over 4 with some more decent returns heading this way.

cyclone77
2.8" here. There's a 4.5" report from Erie, but they must have been measuring in a drift or something. Fun event. That 15-20min period of very heavy snow was extremely impressive.

Hoosier
I 69 will be next. I don't know why I 65 and certain stretches of 69 are so bad. I do know there are some open, flat stretches in Huntington Co that allows the wind to blow the snow across the road and it is difficult to keep the ice cleared. Tim hit on why I-65 is bad around here...but besides that, there are plenty of open stretches for miles and miles with wide open fields on either side of the road. Really nothing to hinder the snow from blowing around.
cyclone77
^Nice pics. One final burst here with large flakes. Nice to have a fresh cover again over top of that crappy crust.

Hoosier
The Wednesday system looks a little interesting. Not much qpf but the airmass is very cold with the DGZ basically extending from the ground up to around 700 mb here. Wouldn't be surprised to see that little bit of qpf fluff up into an inch or two. KeenerWx
Less than 2" away from the snowiest January on record. Well, at least according to COOP data, which can be shoddy at times. If lake effect breaks right, I could get there...
