mitchnick
What is "bagginess"? follow the 1004 isobar from the Great Lakes storm and it heads SE to off the Carolina coast and I mistakenly said the slp was bottom right when it is top right on the RGEM 4-map cluster
snow.
Rain - with rain on top of that! Looking better at JYO looks like a solid hit for JYO and OKV....2-4"+...will have to see what the Euro says

snow.
euro is much drier...would probably be relegated to WInchester, etc...and maybe only 1"+ there
DDweatherman
I'd like to see the GFS hold the next few runs with a more impressive solution. It led the euro on the 1/3 evet and the Euro came in wetter right before the storm.

DDweatherman
no it didn'tWell matt, I'd definitely say the GFS was not beaten by the Euro in that storm. The run right before the storm was wetter and followed the uniform qpf forecast that was part of a growing consensus (gfs, nam, canadian models)
Bob Chill
Euro is wetter and further north with precip than last night. It also has a similar cva precip jackpot. Only .2 or so but there are some similarities to the gfs.

Bob Chill
in terms of ground truth it isn't close...we'll see how it evolves. Definitely 2 different solutions. Euro has no surface low like the gfs at all. I was just pointing out that it got wetter from last run. The precip max in cva is a coincidence of different evolutions. The coming weekend is much up in the air. I wouldn't say anyone is out of the game or in the game. Lots of ul energy zipping in the ns flow. There will be a good bit of jumping around this week. Bob Chill
Both if u got the info Both threats are similar in an important way. There is lp tracking the lakes in advance. That's troubling at our latitude. Always. But both have nice vort passes below us. The wed storm isn't really resolved yet. The sat storm is all speculative with many possible outcomes that models won't have a good handle on for days.

Bob Chill
The euro is better than I thought for Wednesday I didn't look all that close but it looks like the euro develops a weak and baggie low off the nc coast as it evolves. GFS is much more compact. Both are viable.
