codfishsnowman
I was inspired to post this by reading through the ku books recently and seeing that prior to 1969 bos did not have one 20 in snowfall, of course since then they have had piles of them I guess there is no denying the harsh reality that climo is going to catch up with us....as much as it kills me that I have been forced to live in perhaps one of the worst areas for big snows during the recent heyday (past 15 years) of big storms...the thought of another period like most of the 80s to very early 90s is cliff walking material but it is probably coming, maybe not this year or next but its gonna show up I think in most of our lifetimes. Baroclinic Zone
How does someone even keep track of this? I don't think I measured a snowfall till about 7-8 years ago. All I know is it's a lot. Probably a dozen since I've moved to my current location.

ORH_wxman
For >15", it is probably in the vicinity of about 20 storms. Off the top of my head... Dec 11-12, 1992 Mar 13-14, 1993 Feb 8-11, 1994 Jan 7-8, 1996 Apr 9-10, 1996 Dec 6-8, 1996 Apr 1, 1997 Dec 23, 1997 Feb 5, 2001 Mar 4-6, 2001 Feb 17-18, 2003 Jan 22-23, 2005 Feb 11-12, 2006 Jan 12, 2011 Oct 29-30, 2011 Feb 8-9, 2013 Mar 6-8, 2013 One's that I lived through but do not remember.... Apr 6-7, 1982 Feb 6-7, 1983 Feb 11-12, 1983 I might be missing a couple. Thinking of the list though reminded me just how many events in the >10" but <15" range there have been. A lot of big storms that I thought might be on the list, were like 12" or 13.5" or something. We've certainly been lucky the past 2 decades. The 1980s were absolutely putrid...esp the mid-late '80s and also the early '90s.
