JamieOber
The national radar mosaic really shows the expansion of heavy rates in MD. In larger scale systems such as this, I find it much more useful for reflectivity than GR3. http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/Conus/full_loop.php I like it but the only problem is it doesn't update as much. CarlislePaWx
Just want 2 more inches to reach the elusive 6" mark. Same here except I need 3 more inches! That 20 dbz band is just about to descend southward enough to reach me as the biggest flakes of the storm are beginning to fall here now.
pasnownut
really getting going down here. snow picking back up to moderate and is at times horizontal... I hope it continues to expand north and west of us. Nut
MAG5035
Yeah, my brother told me that it's really snowing in Manchester PA. Looking at radar, you can see it expanding. Looking good. Have you seen any of this localized heavier snow back this way? Been snowing quite nicely about the last half hour.
EasternUSWX
Stupid 95 corridor. Band always sets up there. lol. Down to 21 here.

No, I'm at work and just has been light. Have you've been looking at the mid-range models? About as good as I've seen them all year.
EasternUSWX
CTP radar stinks I swear. Shows me in like 5DBZ and I am getting heavier snow again.
Voyager
Too much dry air. Since your in the east maybe you can squeeze out another few inches. If your N and W o I-81 looks like the snow event is mostly over. Yeah, I remember, I think it was the Boxing Day storm when all those heavy echos were moving north and the dry air just ate them up at the Blue Mountain. I wonder if this will be a similar situation. If you look at regional radar, the snow is expanding to your south. Hard to say if it makes it up your way. See my reply above. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Even if it does, it'll probably be too little, too late.

CarlislePaWx
Ever-so-slightly OT at the moment but has anyone looked at the 12z GFS? Incredible and persistent cold through the entire 15 days with multiple nights below zero (KCXY) and out in la-la land a radiational low temp of -11F two weeks from tomorrow. One of the most impressive things is that from this point forward temps get no higher than the teens until next Saturday afternoon. I'm not so sure I can ever remember that many consecutive days with highs below 20F. BTW...back on topic...I almost have heavy snow now with big flakes. The band has reached me...lol. JamieOber
Snowy? Yes, quite active. I see 3-4 opportunities. Go here: http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov/model-guidance-model-parameter.php?group=Model%20Guidance&model=gfs&area=namer&cycle=20140121%2012%20UTC¶m=850_temp_mslp_precip&fourpan=no&imageSize=M and run it. CarlislePaWx
Some current reports from over at Phillywx have a few spots close to 8" already. There is an incredible persistent huge band running from southwest of philly then northeastward over east-central nj and then covering virtually all of Long Island. Boy, is Philly ever striking gold this season or what?
djr5001
Nice band setting up from Shippensburg to Carlisle to the north side of Harrisburg. im on the south east edge of it... massive flakes... closing in on 3" here just north of Enola

meteo
I wasn't expecting much from this storm here in Altoona...got around 1.5 inches or so. My thinking is like Jaime's: I think we get our big one in February or early march, while the New York forum weenies, see a wind driven rain storm. Now I probably just jinxed us lol.
